Red Son meets his younger self

Season 4 Macaque, whose design I had the most trouble with, and don't particularly like

Grumbling several angry profanities under his breath, Red Son brushed off the dirt from his royal robes and looked around to find the others, scarlet eyes widening as the demon noted how he was well and truly alone.

"Damm that scholar!" Red hair sparking up, the bull prince made the immediate decision to sit and wait, knowing that logically, if he were to move, it'd make reuniting with the group much harder. "We're going to have words after all of this is ov--huh?"

He stopped his rant at the sound of sniffling, turning around and peeking through a nearby bush, eyes widening at the sight of...himself? No...this was his younger self. And judging by the clothing and physical age, it was most likely the time after his father was sealed away.

Frowning sadly, the fire user felt a sympathetic pang run through his heart, sighing and opting to find somewhere else to wait...he shouldn't get involved with his past--

"Wh-who are you?"

Shit...

Turning around, the prince realized that his past self had seen him, red clashing with red, as both royals stared at one another, "Nobody you need to concern yourself with, I'll be off."

"H-hey!" Scrambling to their feet, younger Red Son ran after the older one with a slight shake in his step, small hooves clopping against stone and grass. "Stop! Wait!"

'Stop following me,' The older demon thought to himself with a sigh, gritting his teeth as he stopped and whipped around, much to the surprise of his younger self. "Listen, you need to forget you saw me, and go back to your crying, understand?"

"B-but--!"

"No buts! Alright?" Sighing as he pinched the bridge of his nose, Red Son tiredly looked down at himself, tail flicking about as he wondered what to do, now the situation had gotten a bit more complicated. "Just...go away."

"You look just like me..." Studying the older demon, the younger's eyes wandered over the clothes, until they settled upon the family crest on the teen's robes. "Y-you have my family crest! A-are we related?!"

"Something like that..." The prince muttered to himself, though a flick of the younger's ears, let him know that they'd caught what he'd said.

"What's your name?"

"None of your business."

"Where are you going?"

"Also, none of your business."

"Why do you keep saying--?"

"Will you quit that?!" Scowling down at the small demon cub, Red Son took his glasses off and pinched the bridge of his nose in exasperation, ears flicking in irritation, as he muttered to himself. "Gods I forgot how nosy my younger self was."

A sniff garnered the teen's attention, who looked down to see his child self crying once again, tears streaming down the bull cub's face, "My bàba's g-gone....mama says that Wukong sealed him away under the mountain, and she's working so h-hard to keep the kingdom together but...I can see that she's tired....a-and I'm worried for her...."

The older bull demon frowned as he remembered this time in his life, the Samadhi Fire user kneeling down and using his experience from caring for Ming, to gather his younger self up into his arms and soothingly rub the younger's back, letting out comforting purrs, "It will be alright, I promise you."

"H-how do you know that?" A choked sob passed the younger's throat, as he gripped tightly onto the older's robs, his tears wetting the demon's clothing.

"Because....I can see into the future," That was the best excuse he could come up with alright? "And in your future, I see you freeing your father, and making your parents proud. But, I also see you meeting this amazing person, who you'll fall for...literally, and they'll make you so happy, even when they act so stupid at times. You'll also meet this little girl who will be such a troublemaker, but will teach you how to have patience, and she'll look at you the same way you look at your parents, with such admiration it'll make you wonder how someone could look at you like that. Not to mention this painfully annoying dragon girl, who you'll have to deal with dragging you away from your projects constantly, insisting that you need to 'take a break'."

"My future sounds fun," A shaky laugh left the younger Red Son, as they pulled away, the cub wiping gently at his tears. "Will it really come true?"

"I guarantee it," Nodding, the pair sat their for a while, with the smaller nodding off due to exhaustion, the older sighing in relief...and slight sadness. "Sleep well Hóng Hái-er..."

A gentle gong noise had the bull demon turning his head as Mei, Sandy, Pigsy, Tang and Mo appeared in a flash of light, the group opening their mouths to--most likely--shout his name, but shutting up when he furiously motioned for them to shut up, placing his sleeping, younger self down, and joining the group.

"Let's get going," Red Son whispered, givinging his younger self one last glance, and sighed, feeling slightly lighter as they all disappeared right as Iron Fan's voice sounded out for her son, who blinked as he woke up and looked around in confusion.
