The first thing he did when him and Nines returned to the precinct next day was come up to Tina who was just making her coffee. "Hey Tina, I've got some questions. You have a minute?"
She looked him up and down and then shot a look to Nines who followed him to the break room. "Uh-huh if you answer mine."
Gavin lifted an eyebrow. "Sure." He took out a plastic cup and started using the coffee machine once Tina was done. "I wanna know about the punk that ended up in the hospital. The one from the possible gang violence case you didn't let me talk to."
"Yeah?"
"Which hospital is he in? I wanna talk to him."
"I already questioned him Gav." She set down her coffee cup on the table and crossed her arms.
"I know. I just think he might be connected to another case I'm working on so I wanna ask a few more questions." He said as non-chalantly as he could. She stayed silent until his coffee was done. He took it and joined her at the table. "Well?"
"Fine. I'll send you the address later. But I don't like how secretive you're being. You would have normally told me what it's about first."
Gavin rolled his eyes and took a sip of his coffee, burning his tongue. "It's a sensitive case Fowler gave me. I'll tell you once it's solved Tina. Chill out."
"Uh-huh." She glaced towards Nines, who was still there, watching them talk. "Did you sleep with your android?"
Gavin thought he heard wrong. "What?" He said incredulously.
She shrugged. "You've been coming in and leaving with it every day. And I know it's kinda your type and that it has all the necessary parts."
Gavin looked back at Nines, embarrassed he had to hear it but the android didn't seem to have any sort of a reaction apart from hands tightly folded behind his back. "Look Tina. First of all, you gotta be outta your goddamn mind. Would you sleep with Chris just cuz you could? I don't think so. And second of all, how the hell do you even know he even has 'the necessary parts'?!"
"I actually read the manual we got when they arrived." She lifted an eyebrow. "How do you know?"
He could feel his cheeks heat up and hoped it didn't actually show. "Hey, you're totally wrong you know! Besides, I'm not at much of a horn beast as you describe me to be! I don't sleep with every man I see."
Tina took a sip of her coffee while he was ranting. "It's not a man. It's a tool, which are meant to be used. Didn't think it would stop you." She really was staring at Nines like he was an object.
"Did you sleep with yours?" He asked, angry.
"No, I have standards. Plastic toys are not up to them. Besides, if you would have cared to spend time with me or just read my texts, you'd have known I found myself a girlfriend." She took another sip of her coffee.
That took him off-guard. "Since when?"
"Since a week ago, asshole. Some friend you are." She took her coffee and walked away, leaving Gavin ashamed. He really has been a shitty friend. Disappeared for almost two weeks and then promptly ignored her and only focused on work.
He turned towards Nines. "Sorry you had to hear that."
"That's alright, Detective. She wasn't completely wrong in her assumption, since we are not forbidden from sexual acts with humans or even officers."
