Luke's POV
Later that day I ended up going to practice, and like Devon told Hayley, I got to skip some drills so that I could focus on the plays for the upcoming games. We always try to switch things up so the other teams can't figure out our plays when we're playing the game.
I listened to Coach and helped when I needed to, but other than that I was absentminded and itching for practice to be over. Briar agreed to me texting her after practice so we could plan a day to get together for our project, but that was just my lame excuse so I could talk to her.
The drills weren't that bad today seeing as how it's the start of the season. We had some practices over summer break, but it was just to kind of get back into the groove of things. Now things are starting to become more serious as our first game approaches. It's in about a week so we really need to train as hard as possible.
I hear Coach blow his whistle, signaling for all of us to head over to him. We group together in front of Coach and wait for what he's going to say.
"Alright guys, you did good today in practice. Just remember that with a game a week away, today was your last easy day. We have to train harder than ever this coming week so that we're ready to face Paladina. Now get your sorry asses home and rested so that you're ready for tomorrow, I won't make it easy on you. Dismissed!" Coach yells out in finality. We all slap each other's helmets to say "good job" before we walk into the locker room.
I get dressed as fast as possible so that I can text Briar sooner. Once I'm done I say goodbye to the guys and head out to my car. I text Briar on the walk to my car, too anxious to wait until I get home. I quickly pull up her contact and start a message.
Luke: "Hey Briar, it's Luke, I just got out of practice. What day would work best for you to go over our project?"
I anxiously await her text getting more and more nervous with each passing second. Before I can think more on it, I hear a ding come from my phone, a text message from Briar lighting up my phone. I smile.
Briar: "Hey, I'm glad you actually reached out. I wasn't sure if you were going to take this project seriously or not. I can work with any day as of right now. What does your availability look like?"
A crooked smirk takes over my face. She's so cute.
Luke: "I take school very seriously, how do you think I made captain on the Varsity team? I have practices this next week, but seeing as how it's Wednesday, we can shoot for Saturday? Practices are earlier in the day on weekends."
Briar: "Yeah that works, I don't have anything going on that weekend. Where should we meet?"
Luke: "I have a special place in mind, do you mind if I just pick you up that day? We do live right next to each other so there's no need to waste gas in two cars."
My heart begins to thud against my chest. I hope I didn't come off too presumptuous or anything with that message.
DING
A message from Briar.
Briar: "Sounds good to me :) I'll see you then partner"
I let out a breath that I hadn't realized I was holding before responding.
Luke: "See you then"
I finally arrive at my car which is a grey 2002 Honda Civic. She may be older, but she still runs like a dream. I have some car buddies, or acquaintances really, that hook me up with free or cheap tune ups. I am definitely lucky to have that in my life, and I try to learn a thing or two from them so that I will be able to do the fine tuning on my own when necessary.
Pocketing my phone, I hop in my car and head home. I never text and drive, especially after seeing how high the rates are of people dying because of people who text and drive. I don't want to be another statistic and I would like to make it home to my mom alive and well for as long as she's living.
My mom and I have always been super close. She just gets me even when I don't get myself. We both suffered some stuff together, so ever since then it made us that much closer. I wouldn't trade my mom for the world. She makes the world brighter just by breathing.
I make it home safely, parking my car on the side of the street. As much as my mom protests against me leaving my car on the side of the road, I make sure that she has more than enough space to come and go as she needs. My mom works extra hard to make sure that we have the house and lifestyle that we do right now, so I figure this is the least I can do for her.
Unlocking the door, I step in and take off my shoes, placing them to the side in the house before closing the door behind me. As soon as the door clicks shut, I hear quick footsteps coming up to me from behind and I smile lightly. Turning around I see my beautiful and loving mother smiling up at me brightly. My mother, Ana, has black hair and brown eyes like me, but she stands at a whopping 5' 5". I get my height from my father, not that I'm glad for it. Unlike my tan skin, hers is very fair, almost pearly white, even at her age of 45 years.
"My son! How was your day? First day of senior year! How was practice? Do you like your teachers?" She quickly rambled on and on and it made me chuckle.
"Mom relax, I'll tell you all about my day in a second. First can I get a hug?" I ask as I stretch my arms out widely to her.
She lets out a soft laugh before stepping into my embrace and squeezing me tight. I wrap my arms around her and squeeze her back, gently.
A moment later we both step back and her face turns serious. "Okay now seriously tell me about your day."
I smile before nodding my head. We go to sit down in the kitchen and I tell her all about my day, beginning to end. She listened intently, not once interrupting but always making facial expressions when she could. I told her about Briar, who she's known I've had a crush on since we moved next to her. At the mention of Briar's name and the fact that we're parters, her eyebrows shot up but she still listened intently.
After I was done she gave me a pointed look. Oh no, I know what that means. Before I could cover my ears, my mom let out the most high pitched screech I have ever heard come out of her little body.
"Luke! The one girl you've been crushing on for almost 4 years is your partner in school and you got her number?! I'm so happy for you!" She lets out excitedly.
I laugh. "I know I felt the same way too. I can't believe it's finally happening."
After our conversation, we had some dinner and then I went up to my bedroom to get ready for bed. The only thing on my mind was Briar. I took off my clothes, other than my boxers, before throwing on a pair of my favorite grey sweatpants, leaving my shirt off. Boxers after a day of football feels so freeing. Jockstraps are not comfortable to say the least, so wearing underwear that isn't restricting is really nice.
I look out of my window that just so happens to face Briar's room. Our houses aren't too far apart but they're also not super close so sometimes I have to strain my eyes to see through her window. I see her walking out of her bathroom in nothing but a towel as her wet hair cascades down her back and what I imagine to be water droplets falling on her chest, just between her sweet and sensual- fuck.
I slowly look down at my crotch and see a bulging erection pushing against my sweats. I drop my head back and let out a low groan. I guess I needed to shower today anyways. Unfortunately, today's is gonna be a cold one.
What are you doing to me Briar?
*****
Hello again! I literally have never posted chapters so fast in my life. I guess I'm just really into the storyline right now! Please ignore some of the parts in Luke's POV. I tried to do my research on underwear and the such but alas I am not a man and don't really have male connections to prove or debunk my statements. So if it's wrong, please let me know and I will change it. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed and I will see you again next time! As always, let me know what I can do to fix my writing style.
