Luke's POV
I wake up this morning feeling incredibly happy. My heart is racing in the good way and I was barely able to sleep last night yet I feel like I slept for 12 hours.
Jumping out of bed, I hop over to my closet and decide on wearing black pants, a white t-shirt and a short sleeve black and brown colored block print button up. Along with that, I pair it with the black bracelet I wore when I went to the diner with Briar and a black necklace.
To top it off, I throw on some white vans and call it good. My hair never needs any styling so I don't mess with what doesn't need fixing.
I head down to the kitchen to see my mom making breakfast for me before she heads to work for another long shift.
"Mom, you don't need to do that. You have to go to work soon and I can make myself something to eat." I say as I rush over to her side so I can grab the utensils from her.
She quickly whips the utensils out of my reach before I have to chance to grab them. "I will make breakfast for my son if I please. Go sit down, it's almost ready."
I shake my head but smile slightly. My mom has always been a very stubborn and hard headed woman, but it's one of the things I admire most about her.
"Thank you Mom. I appreciate you and everything you do for me." I say gently, my smile not wavering.
She looks at me softly, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "I know."
The timer goes off, interrupting our moment which is probably for the best because we don't need to be leaving the house with blotched faces.
"Okay, eat this up and then head straight to school. We don't want you being late. But remember, being late-"
"Is better than not making it there at all. I know Mom. I always drive carefully so I can come back home and see your beautiful face." I say before squeezing her cheeks with my fingers. She quickly slaps my hands away and it causes me to laugh.
"Okay smartass, I have to go. I love you and I'll see you later, be safe." My mom says, kissing me on the forehead before turning to rush out of the door.
"I love you too Mom, be safe!" I yell out to her.
She nods her head vehemently before waving her hand and disappearing after closing the door. I chuckle slightly before turning to the meal my mom made me. My favorite, scramble eggs made with garlic salt and pepper, six slices of bacon, strawberry jam on two pieces of toast and a glass of cold milk.
"Thanks Mom." I whisper before digging in.
After that it takes me about 5 minutes to scarf down my food and clean my plate before I run upstairs to brush my teeth and use some mouth wash. Once I'm done I run downstairs, grab my keys and head outside, locking the door behind me.
I turn my head to look at Briar's place to see her car is already gone. I'm running a few minutes behind our usual schedule so it would make sense that she took her car. Good girl.
I turn to my car and unlock it before getting in and heading to school. I keep my promise to my mom and drive there safely, gettin there with 10 minutes to spare. I usually get to school about 15-20 minutes early so I have time to mingle so it's not like I'm ever actually late. Just later than my usual time.
I get out of my car after I park and head inside to look for my friends. As I suspected, they were standing by my locker chatting with each other.
Devon sees me and smiles brightly. "Hey man, what took you so long?"
