Briar's POV
Three days have finally passed which means, as Luke and I agreed, it's the day that we get together to do our project. He told me that he would pick me up after he was done with practice today so I made myself busy with some TV. I had nothing better to do today. I unfortunately finished all of the books I own and I was trying to watch my spending lately so that I can save some up for when I go to college.
As I finished my latest romance movie, I get a text message. Scrambling to see who it is, I find that it is indeed Luke, and he is on his way to pick me up. I text a quick reply back before dashing to my closet and figuring out what I was going to wear.
I decide on a floral cropped tank top with lace on the rim of the top and bottom half, pairing it with some light wash mom jeans. I decide no makeup for today other than a little bit of a pink lip tint. Once I feel happy with my appearance, I run downstairs and quickly throw on my white low rise Vans.
It's still warm enough to wear this outfit where I live, so I figure I don't particularly need a coat on a day like this. I grab the rest of my school stuff, and my keys, that I placed downstairs earlier so I wouldn't forget it and head for the door. Before I make it outside, I hear my Dad clear his throat.
I turn slowly with a sheepish smile on my face. "Yes my loving father?"
He lets out a short, unamused laugh. "Going somewhere?"
"Uh, yeah about that, I have a school project with a classmate." I say trying to avoid any details whatsoever. I love my Dad, I really do, but he can be really overprotective and I don't want him to scare away Luke. I've liked only him for these past few years.
"With?" He draws out.
I let out a deep sigh, hanging my head in defeat. Here goes nothing. "With Luke Verlice. The son of Ana Verlice, our neighbor."
He pauses. "The football jock?"
"He's not just some jock, he's a really smart guy and he's sweet. Please don't make this a big deal. It's just school." I say defending Luke.
I see a glimmer of something in my Dad's eye accompanied by a smirk so small you wouldn't be able to see it if you weren't paying attention. "Alright, I won't. Just promise me no funny business, okay?"
I nod my head vehemently. "I promise, thanks Dad. Love you!"
I quickly kiss his cheek before running to the door. I hear a faint "I love you too" before I close the door. As if right on cue, Luke pulls up in his Honda Civic. He waves at me and I wave back before heading over and getting into his car.
I strap in and turn to him with a small smile on my face. "Okay, where are we going?"
He chuckles. "Straight to the point, I like it. Unfortunately for you, I won't be telling you. It's a surprise."
"You're going to kill me, aren't you?" I say with mock fear on my face.
He turns his head toward me slightly as he begins to drive in the direction of our destination. "Now if I told you that it wouldn't be any fun, would it?"
I nod my head in understanding. "That's fair. I wouldn't tell my victim until I was ready for the chase."
"See now you get it." He says as he points at me with his pointer finger, his eyes glued on the road.
I chuckle.
After about thirteen minutes, we reach a cliff and I quickly realize it's a secluded lookout point that looks over the town. I gasp at the beauty. I have never seen our town from so high up before. All of the bustling and commotion below us just made our lives look so small compared to the world.
