Shifting around in his bed, Shikamaru was waking up from his slumber, letting out a loud yawn as he stretched out his arms.

Still processing his environment, the sound of his alarm made him snap out of his sleepy headspace. He ended up waking up before his alarm. All that effort to set up one went down the drain, and his money too.

"I don't even feel like turning it off..."

He continued to sit on his bed, dazing off into space as his alarm continued to ring loudly in his room.

"Shikamaru, turn off that alarm already! I can hear it from down here!" his mother shouted from the first floor. That shook him out the rest of his sleepy state, his lips curling downwards.

After a few more seconds, he decided to just listen to his mom and turn off the alarm. Standing up now, he shivered feeling the cold wood under his feet and proceeded to make his way out of his room.

He walked into his bathroom and stood in front of the mirror. Looking at himself, he grumbled at the state of his hair, tangled up and some strands going in weird directions. He then quickly scan the rest of himself. He's gotten a lot muscular compared to his earlier years, due to his nearly everyday training and missions. His perspectives on things also changed.

Of course, 3 years would change a person physically and mentally.

"Shikamaru! Come down and start eating! Didn't you say you have to attend a meeting soon?" his mother called out once more, reminding him of his schedule for the day.

He's been a lot more busier ever since his promotion, constantly on schedule and inside the Hokage's tower. He already had a hunch of where his path was going since his father went through a similar experience, it was no surprised that he'd end up in the same position like him.

He's grown to understand a lot more of how the shinobi's work and have seen some behind the scenes. It can be interesting to say the least, mostly tiring though.

Quickly getting through his routine in the bathroom, he went back to his room to get dress in his uniform. His clothes had recently upgraded, what used to be a fishnet top and a dark gray long pants were now a simple black turtleneck and long black pants. He then grabbed onto his green vest, staring down at it for a moment.

Remembering back when he secured the title of Chūnin, he exhaled through his nose briefly. His friends and family had thrown a celebration for him after he had won his match, it was an eventful day.

He then glances to his desk, staring at a frame image that he held onto dearly.

Walking closer up to it, he picked up the frame and swiped the glass with his thumb. A familiar solemn feeling beginning to bubble through as he smiled sadly. It was a picture of him and Naruto during their graduation, he had politely asked the Sannin if he could get an image for himself while Naruto went away to talk to the clay sculpture.

Naruto was beaming in the picture, smiling so brightly while he glowing under the sun. He basically rivaled the run with how much he radiates compared to it. Shikamaru will never forget how beautiful he is.

Everyday he wonders how Naruto is doing, where he is, what has he been experiencing, and all that. He has sent a letter after his departure, only one though and it was two years ago. They must've been strict over to where he's at and Shikamaru couldn't send one either due to not knowing where he is.

He wished that Naruto was here to celebrate with him during that time of his Chūnin.

He wishes that Naruto was still with him.

He chuckled to himself, there he goes again with his wish. His feelings for Naruto had not changed at all, he was still consistent on bettering himself so that he could proudly confront Naruto the next time they'll meet. It's strange, really, he never thought he'd grown this attach to someone who he doesn't even see anymore, he guesses that's just how feelings works. No matter what, he believes that they'll meet again sooner or later, it doesn't matter how long it takes.
