Today was their day off from school.

All of the kids were out and about, either sleeping, hanging out with their friends, and all that sweet jazz.

Shikamaru and Choji were currently together, dining at Choji's family restaurant and talking about whatever came into mind.

It's been a bit since the two last properly hung out together so Shikamaru agreed on Choji's invite. Like the others, Choji was part of his long term friends as their clan, alongside the Yamanaka clan, have a special connection to one-another.

"-and that's how I accidentally rolled down the school stairs."

Shikamaru stared at Choji with a confused expression, his hands halted their action as he wracked around his brain.

"Choji..."

"Yes?"

"How did we even get to this conversation? We were talking about our life goals."

Choji mid-paused picking up the piece of meat that was on the grill, also looking at him with an equally confused expression.

"Oh... I actually don't know."

Shikamaru could only shake his head from side to side, giving a short laugh before picking up a piece and placing it on Choji's bowl.

"Whatever I guess, let's just continue on."

Choji hummed happily, accepting the pieces and immediately eating them.

"Do you think that we'll be a team together?"

"Hm? What kind of question is that, of course we'll be together. They always put our clan into teams."

Choji frowned slightly, continuing to carefully place the food item into the griller, "I'm just a little worried, I like being with you and Ino."

"No need to worry, we're the classic Ino-Shika-Cho combination. We're stronger together so it would be off on their part if they separate us."

Choji's face lightened up at an instant, feeling relieved after his best friend's reassurance. A lot of things change over time, some old ways slowly die out and is replace with new ones so Choji started growing worried about things around him.

They sat in a comfortable silence, eating peacefully and staring off into space. Shikamaru took a quick look out of the window beside them and looked up at the sky before nodding to himself.

His thoughts were cut off when he heard Choji clear his throat, turning his attention back at him.

"So.. how's you and Naruto's- friendship? Company? Acquaintance? Uh yeah, you get the idea."

Shikamaru nodded and swallowed down the food, "Oh yeah we're good."

"You're okay though, right?"

"Fine as ever, why wouldn't I be."

Choji's lips tightened up a little, creating a straight line as he stared worryingly at Shikamaru.

"I've been worried about your well-being.. you know, with all the rumors that is surrounding Naruto. I'm honestly shocked that you decided to befriend him." Choji honestly said, placing down his empty bowl and chopsticks.
