"Maka, keep your eyes peeled open." Soul warned from in the scythe. His crimson eyes were quickly moving around, trying to look through the darkness of where Maka stood. It was silent and eerie. It was worrying.
The scythe meister snapped back at him, "I am! Did you think I was just standing here?!" Maka gritted her teeth as she stood in a defensive position. Her olive green eyes flicked around in a hurry. All she heard were swift movements and quiet footsteps running past her in the dark.
This was the worst time to get in an argument and it seemed that only Soul felt that way. He scoffed, "Now's not the time to get bitchy, Maka. Of course I know you weren't just standing there! I was just trying to help!"
He felt his meister grasp onto the scythe handle in anger. They both got angry at each other quite often but there were times where they just shouldn't. He was annoyed but since Maka was being Maka, he tried to calm down and be more useful, "I'm sorry, Maka." he muttered. He didn't get a response back, but he felt Maka jerk back as she looked at something that seemed to quickly run by them, "What was that?!"
The scythe meister finally spoke up, "More like who was that. Blackstar should've just listened and stayed here with us! Wait..." they both got the same idea at the same time. It was silent for a mere second after Maka said wait.
"Soul Perception!" they both exclaimed at the same time. A smirk grew on both their faces. Maka nodded and closed her eyes. As she did, her soul perception activated. And what she saw running at her chilled her to the bone. She had no time to react as someone suddenly rushed at her, charging into her as Maka let go of Soul in his scythe form, then fell back around 10ft away. It was a mighty charge.
A clanking sound echoed the dark hall as a thud from 10ft away could be heard. Soul suddenly called out, "Maka!" there wasn't any response other than struggles nearby. He was hesitant to transform back to human. What if Maka needed him to instantly be in his weapon form? He gave out another call, "Maka?! Answer me!" there was nothing other than the sounds of struggles.
Soul finally transformed back to his human form. He quickly got up with wide eyes and turned his head in every direction to see where the struggles were coming from. He couldn't exactly tell. But a scream of pain gave away where Maka was.
"MAKA!!!" the white haired boy quickly scrambled over in that direction. His heart sank at the sound of Maka's scream. He couldn't bare to know what caused her to scream so painfully. Where was she?! It was pitch black. He was worried sick.
Suddenly, the wind was knocked right out of his lung. He was sent flying across the hallway as his black slammed into the brick wall. He slid down the wall, no air in his lungs. His eyes were widened as he tried to recollect this breath but nothing would come in. But suddenly, he gasped for air and caught his breath as best as he could. Quick and heavy breaths came from the scythe as he held his chest.
As eager as he was to get to Maka, it was hard to move. But he had to try.. he needed to be okay. He was worried sick. Soul used his strength to start pushing himself up. His hands started to push himself up and off the ground until he was suddenly slammed against the wall again. His eyes shut in pain as he gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath, "Fuck!"
His eyes slowly peaked open when he felt someone's warm arm pressed against his chest to keep him against the wall. And as his eyes fully opened, he came eye to eye with a pair of glowing crimson eyes. They looked emotionless yet somehow terrifying, especially in the dark. His heart skipped a beat in fear. Who was this person? What did they do to Maka?!
Soul gritted his teeth and tried to push them away, "Get off of me! Where's Maka?! What'd you do to her?!" all of his attempts were futile. The person kept him there as they stared deep into his soul. He suddenly heard the sound of someone transforming into a weapon. But instead, this person's free arm transformed into a red katana. The blade slowly raised up and placed itself again Soul's throat. One wrong move from Soul and it'd cost him his life. Maybe Maka's too.
The demon scythe noticed the hallway begin to light up. Arachnophobia members entered the hallway with torches in hands. And one figure stood out the most. The infamous Lady Arachne herself. She slowly approached them, light following her. Soon it'd be revealed that a woman with black hair that was in a ponytail was holding Soul there. She looked to be around 18 or 19. There was a scar over her right eye and she looked emotionless yet deadly.
Sooner rather than later, the room filled up with more light. He had a full view of his surroundings. And across the hall was Maka, laying in her own blood.... Soul suddenly felt his blood boil. His pupils shrunk as a vein rose on his forehead and he bared his sharp teeth, "MAKA! WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?! LET ME GO!" he began to struggle intensely. As he did, the woman before him slowly pushed the blade down but not enough to pierce his flesh yet.
A hand appeared on the woman's shoulder. It was Arachne's. The witch's purple eyes looked down at Soul. She had an 'innocent' smile on her face, "Don't kill him." after she said that, the woman before Soul transformed her arm back to normal and moved it away. But she still had him pinned against the wall.
Arachne continued her sentence, "Take him." then the sudden uproar of Soul's struggles erupted. Shouts and insults came from him as Arachnophobia members struggled to get Soul up and drag him away. The woman stood at Arachne's side. She stood to be 5'7" and she wore all black assassin attire and had a red scarf. Her hair was in a ponytail that reached down to her ankles. Her eyes still appeared to glow. What was so terrifying about her that chilled Maka to the bone?
Some members got Soul to his feet and started to drag him down the hall. As for Soul he desperately looked back at shouted for Maka. Tears swelled in his eyes. His heart ached at the thought of him never seeing her again.
As Soul shouted insults and cried for Maka, the scythe meister herself laid in the puddle of her own blood. Her eyes slowly peaked open. With her vision blurry, she saw her partner being dragged away. She lifted her pale and weak hand and reached out to him. But from lack of strength and maybe even life, her shaky hand dropped back down into the crimson puddle with a splash, as her vision went completely black after.
