this one shot is about when soul took the hit when crona attacked. or in other words, if he didn't react in time, what would've happen? this is also a "two shot" chapter. during the same episode, what would've happened when soul took the hit but stein and spirit didn't show up?

He was too late.

"MAKA! YOU NEED TO BLOCK NOW!"

"NO! IF I DO, THEN YOU'LL DIE!"

"DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME, JUST DO IT!"

The genderless human approached, the sword aiming backwards behind its head. With its strength, the sword was yanked down from the air and aimed downward.

To only land some where that it shouldn't have.

The sound of flesh and clothing ripping, blood emerging and soaring through the air, it all echoed throughout Soul's ears. His eyes had shrunk to the smallest size it could have.

Crona's blade dragged across Maka's hip and chest, only pressuring deeper into her flesh.

There was no time. It was impossible for him to try and save his meister. She had tossed him away from her so she could take the hit.

But as the very eyes of Soul watched his precious meister fall to the floor, he transformed to his human form and lunged forward to only slide across the ground and catch Maka in his hands. Her own blood began to sink into his clothing, eventually reaching his skin.

And as she fell to the ground, her whisper was the last, "Run.."

He couldn't. Because he was next.

—————

If they didn't arrive in time.

His body effortlessly leaned forward and crashed towards the ground. Maka's olive eyes stared in fear as his blood exited from his new wound. The horror.

Not even a word could come out of her mouth. His body crashed into the floor while blood splashed around.

Her eyes wouldn't leave his body. Not even paying attention to Crona who was aiming the sword backward once again. No emotion in its eyes.

Maka's body stayed leaning against the doors, not prepared for what happens next. The valued weapon's body pushing out one more sentence.

"Get out of here, dumbass.."

"No, I won't leave you, Soul. I'll always be he-"

The dark shaded color blade injected itself into her midsection, sliding past flesh, tissue, muscle, even bones. The weapon stabbed through her body and through the wooden door behind her.

Blood oozed from the hole in her body, even from behind, and on the outside of the door. Her own blood intertwining with the black blood from the sword.

Maka's almost lifeless body slid against the door, leaving a blood trail. She fell to her wobbly knees, taking in giant breaths before her body gave up on holding her. The unequal balance made the meister's body lean to the left, and eventually making contact with the cold floor.

"Good job, Crona. Now take her soul and become the demonswordsman you've always wanted."

The body of Maka began to slowly shrivel up, a fluorescent glowing orange emerging from her chest. Her very own soul about to be eaten by this experiment.

Just until the weapon forced himself back into the world, reaching forward and grabbing onto her soul. His shaky and blood covered hands pulled the warm and courageous soul of Maka towards his own soul. He held onto hers, looking at her dissolving body.

"I won't.. let you.. t-take my meister from me.."

Soul gripped tighter onto his beloved's soul. Only until his body began to give up. His grip loosened, his body dissolving only for a light blue soul to slowly emerge from his body.

Time slowly passed, to only leave two souls which were meant for each other to float next to each other, awaiting further death.
