"Can I help you, sir?" Chisa blinked. What was I to say?

It would be simple enough to wipe her from existence, but this woman interested me. Perhaps I could... Play along.

"I wish to enter." I replied quietly, looking behind her. The teacher giggled, but why? What was so funny to a woman like her?

Was I funny somehow?

I was sure I answered with utmost seriousness.

"Sorry." She cleared her throat. "You just reminded me of someone. Nevermind. Anyway, what's your name? Are you looking to join the reserve course? You must have the money and-"

"No." Her words began to bore me. Maybe I could reconsider elimination again. This annoying pester of memories had already begun to irritate. "I am an ultimate. So I join the main course. Correct?"

Chisa's lips moved to a frown, and she looked behind her before meeting me once more. "An ultimate, huh? Umm... Come with me." The woman waved her hand for me to follow. Backing into the hallway once more, I chose to tag along, keeping myself otherwise quiet besides the sound of my footsteps. The hallways were as bland as they were in the security cameras. If I listened carefully, I could hear speaking behind each classroom door.

"You said you were an ultimate, right?" Chisa suddenly questioned. "Hope's Peak doesn't often take people who show up at their front door. You have to be scouted through a long process and given your title. So.... What's your talent?"

My talent...?

"I've been called...." I started, unsure if I should tell her for only a moment. "The ultimate hope."

For a moment, I could see her face mixed with surprise and confusion as she looked back to me. "Sounds interesting. What does the ultimate hope do?"

Thinking on it, my walking slowed to a stop. What was my purpose? For what reason did I come into a world like this? "I'm not sure yet." I finally answered. The teacher's eyes filled with sorrow and she moved towards a door. "Well, here's the headmasters office. I'll be waiting right outside if you need me!" Chisa opened the door and waved her hand for me to enter. The headmaster of Hope's Peak? Why did I already feel like I knew him? Passing Chisa, who wait at the door, I entered the room, looking around only briefly. It was simply too boring to examine further. Sitting at a desk as an older man, staring at me intently with his dark eyes. Of course, he knew who I was. I wonder what he thought about my freedom when he was in on my creation? "Leave us." His quiet voice ordered, eyeing the waiting teacher. She quickly cleared her throat and shut the door, locking herself out. I found myself face to face with the headmaster, his eyes seeming to examine me up and down.

The tension in the room began to grow stronger, until I began to feel threatened. I clenched my fists, really to attack at the next movements the headmaster made.

His stern eyes finally blinked, and he released a sigh. "I assume you know the predicament you're in already, yes?"

I decided not to reply. Would good would it do? He released a quiet sigh, most likely feeling the same hostility I was.

It would be child's play to take down someone like him, but even still...

"I knew you would escape eventually, but it was sooner than I expected. So what do you plan to do now? Are you going to bathe in blood, like you were made to do?" He raised an eyebrow. "You must be confused. We gave you all the knowledge known to man, but your only purpose is to kill. How does that make you feel?"

I felt nothing.

My body felt numb.

My mind felt numb.

Could this be the truth? My purpose? This angry feeling I constantly feel told me enough. It wasn't a lie. Even so, I couldn't help but feel painfully bored about it in mere moments. "I see." He closed his eyes. "You're the perfect human. Smart, strong, talented, and inhuman healing abilities. But to make room for all of that, to assure nothing would get in the way of your perfection, we were forced to remove any senses and emotions that would do so." He slowly pulled himself to a stand. "So why are you here? Have you come to slit my throat and leave me for dead? It's more than likely all the scientists that were supposed to guard you are dead now if you're free. Did you feel alive when their blood poured out?" He almost seemed to smile, but he couldn't have been more wrong.

"I didn't kill them. It's too boring to bother escaping." I turned my eyes away from him, gazing upon the plain walls.

There was silence. Silence for a long time, and then the headmaster chuckled. "You didn't kill them? So you're refusing your monstrous instincts?"

It shouldn't bother me, so why did it? That word.

Monstrous.

Before I understood what I was doing, a flash of red crossed my eyes and I was lunging forward.
