Noel's POV:I grunt slight as I use a post hole digger then empty it on the side before picking up a wooden post and set it in. I measures it and nod to Joshua who rips open a cement bag and pours a little in then dumps a bucket of water in it.
"Alright this is the last one. We can begin working on the barbed wire fence on the others while this one has time to dry and harden," Joshua announces making me nod and toss the hole digger in the back of truck.
I sat down on my tailgate for a small break and wipe the sweat off of me with my blue bandanna on my forehead, "how long you think this is gonna take?"
Joshua sits down with a tired sigh and shrugs. "I dunno. Reckon a few more days. Maybe another week or half that. Why? Don't tell me the soldier is getting tired of the country work," he says then jokes nudging my shoulder with his making me chuckle.
"Nah, I'm fine. I just never put up a fence like this before and I didn't know since it's taking awhile if we would get in trouble with the boss man because of it," I tell him and take off my dark blue cap then ran a hand through my hair slightly before putting it back on.
"My dad said for y'all to go home," the both of us jump off the tailgate and whirl around in surprise.
"Jesus!" I exclaim feeling my heart start to race at the scare. This woman sure can sneak up on people.
Maggie chuckles, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare y'all. My dad said to stop for the day and get some rest. Tomorrow my dad, Shawn, and Otis are gonna help you since it's Saturday."
Joshua and I glance at each other before shrugging. "Sounds good. I actually have a date tonight so this works out for me. Whoop!" He exclaims fist bumping in the air making Maggie and I chuckle.
"Tell Hershel thank you. I'll see y'all later!" He tells Maggie then announces as he hurried to his car and drove off happily.
I shake my head chuckling and turn back to Maggie who switched her gaze towards me. "Tell your dad thanks from me too. Also not many people could sneak up on me so good job. Come on, I'll give you a lift back to your house," I announce with a grin.
Maggie smiles with a small blush and gets into the passenger side, "thanks. And it wasn't intentional but it was pretty funny at how quickly you guys moved."
I playfully glare at her before laughing a little and start up my truck then began driving back to Maggie's house. "Haha. This would be the second time I've been scared and moved like that so call yourself the chosen one. The first one I was 16 and my eldest brother came home drunk off his ass and decided to strip naked in the living room while I had a friend over. It was pretty traumatizing for her and me," I inform her with my face scrunched up at the memory.
Maggie gasps and begins laughing. "That would be pretty traumatizing for anyone. I'm sorry for laughin," she laughs holding a hand to her mouth to try and smother it up.
I wave her off with a smile. "Don't be. I catch myself laughing about it when I think of it. Well, here you are," I admit then announced stopping in front of the farm house.
"Well, now I'm not sorry then. And thank you for driving me back. See you tomorrow," Maggie responds with a smile then got out of my truck and closed the door.
As I watch her walk away a little, suddenly confidence worked it's a way into me. 'Am I really doing this?' I think as I get out of my truck in a hurry.
I jog over to Maggie and caught onto her arm gently, "uh Maggie? I was wondering if you're not doin anything later would you um like to go get dinner with me?"
