.* LOVERBOY

Time had a funny way of playing tricks on the mind.

You were back in school now, focusing on your studies while simultaneously trying to make your relationship work for the past two months. Neither has been easy since as the summer break ended so did most of your interactions with Jean. You were so busy worrying about him that the start of your new semester hasn't been going all that well. It was weird since you literally lived with him but still it was happening. Late nights, or early mornings, where he would come and crawl in bed with you was when you really got to speak with him. It was then you noticed that all the space in the bed yet he always found his way right under your arms.

You groaned slightly and spoke without opening your eyes, "How was today?"

"Getting closer and closer to the tour date so everything's hectic right now. I'm just so tired."

You opened your eyes now and ran your fingers through his hair, "My poor baby."

He lifted his head up to look at you with those drained eyes. He somehow was still able to produce a smile whenever they gazed upon you, "At least I come home to you at the end of it all." You smiled tirelessly back as you were well far into your slumber before he came in. You gave him a long, gentle kiss before closing your eyes again and drifted away once more into the world of dreams.

Why was it that you were such a failure in the kitchen? Despite observing Jean when he cooked and getting lessons from him, the best you could do was be his test dummy whenever he tried some new recipe. While he was gone at the studio and you had finished with classes for the day, you decided to cook. You wanted to do something that could resemble a date night without actually going out. You had known Jean would appreciate the gesture since he has been working tirelessly.

You had created a mess in the kitchen when attempting to make shrimp scampi. You had tasted the noodles but knew that wouldn't be to his expectation. This was done three times before you got it to a decent texture. The shrimp had just finished so now you just needed to get the table all set up.

Just as you placed the plates down on the completed table set up, the door to the apartment opened. Jean entered, immediately closing his eyes and tilting his head upward to smell the food being prepared five feet away. He smiled slightly at the various seasonings filling the atmosphere and opened his eyes when he heard you address him on your way back into the kitchen to put the used dishes in the sink, "Hi Jeany. How was everything down at the studio?"

He dropped his stuff at the door and walked behind you at the stove. His hands were right above your waistline and he left a soft kiss on your cheek, "Hi baby. Things were good, we had a photoshoot. I see you've been busy."

"Yes, I just wanted to cook for you and do it successfully since you're always the chef. And I'm going to need to see those pictures as soon as they're finished. I know Connie looks funny."

"Yes ma'am. It smells good."

"Let's see if it tastes as good as it smells."

"You also smell good," you had stopped stirring the noodles in the pot they were in and put down the wooden spoon. You grabbed Jeans' hands as you turned to gaze up at him, "You always know exactly what to say to get me, don't you?"
