Izuku Midoriya was 4 years old when he heard the news.

He didn't have a quirk, all as a result of him having one more join in his pinkie toe. Damn pinkie toe!

"You're quirkless, Izuku Midoriya."

That's it... I'll never be a hero like All Might he thought to himself.

As he and his mother, Inko Midoriya, walked home together he admired the world around him and the beauty of everything. He could see families walking with one another as their children happily ate the ice cream their parents had purchased for them, some slowly dripping onto the pavement, leaving residue, permitting the bugs to come back and eat it.

He observed the birds flying in groups, chirping, some swooping down on individuals to steal their means whereas some were being fed bread. He watched people driving in their cars, blasting music and happily singing along to the lyrics, regardless of being off key,

He mainly saw the posters of heroes hanging from every shop window, which solely crushed his spirit more. Soon it started raining, slowly hitting the ground making the quiet patter that Izuku loved.

His mum tugged him alongside her as to get home earlier just in case it rained any faster. As usual he quietly followed her, not that he could protest even when he wished to.

After arriving home, Inko made her way to the bathroom to run Izuku his bath. As soon as it was prepared she went to get her son, only to find him in his bedroom seated at his computer. He was watching that All Might video again, tears streaming down his eyes as he watched and clutched his favourite All Might action figure.

"Izuku." she whispered as tears escaped her eyes, regardless that she was attempting to keep them hidden for him. The heart breaking scene before her was too much for her. Her only son, her pride and joy, was losing any hope he had in the world.

Izuku silently turned around, tears streaming down his face over is freckled cheeks as he slowly reached a hand up and pointed to the computer screen. Again, not a single word escaped his lips.

"Izuku!" Inko cried out as she ran and enveloped her son in a hug, falling to the ground beside his chair. "Izuku, I'm so sorry!" she cried as she buried her face into her son's neck. Izuku remained silent, tears rolling down his face.

Not even horrible information like this appeared to break the younger boys silence.
