I close my eyes slightly trembling. The elixir did certainly burn, and it took all I had to not spit it out. No real symptoms have actually set in though. Only the slight physical ones..., but not the mental ones. Was this a sign of my antidote working?
"God..." I sigh as I drink my sixth bottle of water since then. It hasn't been long, and I've been chugging them down. No matter how much water I drink the flavor won't go away. It's almost as if it's been stained into my mouth. There was soon no more water... 'another one?'
Maybe something else? I stare off to the side. Maybe something carbonated can do the trick... I cough before leaning forward...the symptoms might just actually set in.
"My my you don't look so well," my heart stopped. 'Why?' I continue staring down. She had a feeling that surrounded her...a feeling that was awfully eerie...A dark aroma. Like a serpent.
"Make way for the Savior," I stare over before taking a step back.
"No need...Actually I've been looking for you." She smiles.
"Me?" I question.
"I've heard about the interactions both you, and Ray have had. Ray seems incredibly interested in you...I wonder why that is? So I wanted to come, and see you in person to make a personal judgment." 'Is she suspecting me?' "Hmm now I can see why...you have such distinct features...although what do you think about him?" Her words were catching me off guard. "You also seemed to have asked quite a lot of him."
There was a small silence before I spoke. "I believe he is very...intelligent, and a faithful believer. I asked about him because I wanted to make sure someone like him was alright since I hadn't seen him in a while. It'd be bad to lose someone like that wouldn't you agree?"
She stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking, "I see...I agree with that. Now then I must get going." She continued walking, "oh, and by the way Ray's number one duty is to work. It's the only thing that makes him useful here. Try not to take that away from him." I silently stare as she walks always.
...
'How am I supposed to protect Nari?' I stare down thinking. I can't lie to the savior...although hopefully she hasn't noticed I've left the room. The workload had piled up so much, and my headache wasn't going away...not to mention I haven't slept for days. I stare out the window...I really wanted some fresh air...with Nari.
"You don't look so well. Are you alright?"
"O-Oh I'm alright. I might just be feeling a bit more stressed."
I heard Nari's voice along with another one. The other one sounded familiar, but who? Something felt off... I began walking towards them.
Their conversation came to an abrupt stop as soon as they caught eye of me. "Ray?" Nari turned towards me. She took a glance at the other believer.
"I must get back to work. For eternal paradise." He swiftly walked away.
I open my mouth to call him back, but Nari interrupts, "Ray! I didn't think I'd get to see you this soon." It was then that I noticed that she didn't look too well.
"Nari, are you alright?" I gently hold her hand. She seemed awfully sick...her hands felt hot, and shaky. Her pale face brought out the dark circles underneath her eyes, and I noticed her hasty breathing along with her sweat.
"I'm alright... Don't worry about me. As a matter of fact you should finish your work don't you think? If you worry too much about me you won't finish your work, and you may get in trouble." Her voice was quiet as she spoke.
