Maybe this was finally your time. Here in England, here with Kate, your girlfriend. The thought of this whole thing going downhill wasn't present, you had a lot of confidence that this was all you were supposed to have since the beginning, since before the avengers.
If you weren't to join the avengers maybe your life- no, definitely- your life would be so much easier, so much smoother and way more livable.
They were there for enough of your life to make the greatest impact, the beginning always being a memory anyone would cherish, but towards the end was something you prayed would leave you. The hurt, the feelings and the memory itself, you wanted it gone for good, maybe be brainwashed.
But Kate was that one chance, that one piece of hope you had left before you knew you would give up.
You weren't putting any of your life in her hands, that's not what you were doing, you were just so used to betrayal that if the situation with Kate was to go haywire then you would disappear for good, hopefully off the face of the earth by faking your death, changing your identity or even going to an old friend to cast a spell.
Either option was something you hoped you would never have to come to, not now you had something with the girl that you've wanted it with for so long- no you never acknowledged it because you're a grumpy old egg as she likes to call you - point is, Kate was important to you.
You had just finished viewing the house, both you and Kate were happy with the decision and after the previous viewers turned down the offer due to their preference of another house they had viewed, the owner was asking if you wanted to sign for it.
It was a spacious house, a hallway greeting you as you stepped foot into the house. The living room to your left, the stairs to the second floor on your right and the door beside the ending of the hall lead into the backyard.
The kitchen was nice, up your street at that, it was very modern looking, colored in a white top to bottom, a built-in oven and stove along with another built-in microwave just above the oven. A centrally placed island doubles as a breakfast or coffee soot, while the dining area overlooks an enticing decked terrace and pretty views of prairie-planted borders and a raised lawn.
Four bedrooms lie along a bright spine hallway, all with views of a green backdrop. The dual-aspect main bedroom sits at the far end of the plan, a private retreat replete with a walk-in wardrobe and an en suite bathroom.
There was a utility room that opens from the kitchen, it's a versatile space that provides laundry facilities and doubles as a back kitchen.
So as you knew already, it was a little out of budget but the two of you combined, the money was easy to deal with. You both had it.
So you signed.
"Do you know what this means?" Kate asked, swinging your hands as the two of you walked back to your hotel room.
"We can bring Lucky back?" You raised an eyebrow as you looked at her, seeing her smile brightly.
"Well yes, but that's not what I was getting at." She pouted a little when you let go of her hand to fish the key from your pocket.
"Enlighten me with your reason then, Bishop." You giggled, opening the door to allow your entry.
"No." you turned to her, confused at her response.
"No?" You repeated, amusement lacing your tone as you saw her still pouting, arms crossed in the doorway and that's when you realized she wasn't moving from the doorway.
"Kiss me then I'll tell you."
"You are such a baby." You chuckled, already listening to her request as you made your way over to her, kissing away her pout, "better?"
"Okay so!" she was smiling, already entering the room ignoring your question, "it meansss, that you," she pointed at you, circling her finger at you as she did, "are not getting away from me." She beamed, a proud look on her face as she lay back on the bed. "And I don't care if that's incarnation."
"I think you mean incarceration." You laughed, stepping slowly to her laying form.
"It's the same thing." She shrugged, watching you with light eyes, smiling at the sound of your laughter.
You hummed, nodding slowly with a smile before hovering over her. "No it's not- one means imprisoned, the othe-"
She cut you off, cupping your cheek and the back of your neck, pulling you in to meet her lips. You caught yourself on the bed, lowering down to deepen the kiss, your hands roaming the curve of her hips.
"You talk way too little but please, shut up." She pulled back, your lips ghosting each other just to allow her words to escape before she pulled you back into a searing kiss.
