"Where the hell did they come Vivian? That leather bound book and the jewellery book was not there when I walk past a minute ago and I know for a fact that you haven't walked out from behind the bar to get them from somewhere and put them on the bar counter top." Dom asked me.
Slightly startled at the sound of Dom's voice I turned around to find him leaning up against the bar counter top by his elbows. In from on him are the leather bound book and the jewellery box that he is talking about. Exhaling a deep sigh, I dumped the rag in my hand down onto the counter top and hung my head low with the intention not to meet Dom's authoritative and overpowering gaze.
Today of all days, they so happen to make their bloody appearance out of the safe from my office. Only when something bad happens inside the grounds of the bar do they like to go from one spot inside my office to a spot onto the bar counter top. My particular lengthy moment of silence between Dom and I kind of made up answer for him when Dimitri came back into the bar while drying his hands on his trousers. He sat with a sour look on his face and is the first one to speak his thoughts.
"Your silence right now is not a good answer for my twin brother's question Vivian. It would be handy to know exactly why you have this book and the jewellery box in your possession."
"Alright I can tell the two of you what I already know about the jewellery box and the book. However the two of you need to give me a chance to explain myself before you both go ape shit on me." I said.
A bundle of worry in my mind clenched my fist around the bottle of the bottle. Either way both grumbled under their breaths agreeing to what I had laid out in front of the two of them. I brought up a stool up and plucked out a three shot glasses and poured some bourbon into each of the three shot glasses.
"A few days after you all left the jewellery box and the leather book was sat on the bar. I didn't know anything about either one of them and nor did any of my regular customers. To put it at the back of my mind I put the two objects in the safe behind the painting in my office. Months passed and I didn't think anything of the two of them until one night a dead body turned up. Closing up for that night I went back to turn off the lights and they were lying on the bar." I said chugging down bourbon.
"Did you tell anyone else about the jewellery box and the leather bound book at all over the last two years?" Dimitri asked.
"No I did not as it would be foolish of me to trust someone with what has gone on. But the thing is any crime that involved a dead body close to the bar they suddenly dropped onto the bar when I am the only one here. So I am surprised to say the least about them popping up with you here."
I collected the jewellery box and the leather book and myself into my office. Locking the door behind me, I dump the jewellery box and the leather book on the surface of my desk. Taking a seat, I a loud huff exited my body followed by tension building up in my shoulders. Succumbing to fatigue my body folded in on itself and lounged on the face of the desk. For a moment in time I thought what the worst could happen if the twins took the leather book and the jewellery box and left without a trace. Withdrew a short letter that came with the jewellery box and the leather book from a desk draw and deposited it onto the desk. Staring at the letter for a while I opened it up mentally prepared or not.
'Vivian,
I need you to follow the instructions no matter how hard things get in the future. It may be confusing now but you will understand what the significance this it.
The first and most instruction is to never open the book because if opened the whole world is in danger. Before the instructions you need to keep your family close in dangerous times and nothing will be able to harm any of you.
