I shot up out of bed dripping with my teeth chattering against one another, my limbs shaking, and head-butting Dom in the forehead. Clutching our foreheads the two of us groaned out in pain. Large amounts of sweat poured its way down my face as I vividly remembered my dream from the night before. Unconsciously, one hand darted to the ring hanging around my neck. With my other free hand I checked the time on my phone which made me groan out loud in frustration. Just what I needed on a day like today. I do not have time to go back to sleep before I need to leave to go to the bar in order to stock up on the stockroom.
"Why were you leaning over me while I was sleeping Dom? I may have done some serious damage to those brain cells of yours." I replied rubbing my forehead feeling the throbbing pain underneath my fingertips.
"You were screaming out for help like a bloody banshee that's what happened. Some neighbours came knocking and complained how noisy were screaming during the night. Dimitri told me to wake you up while he went out to get some early lunch."
"Dom just shake me awake next time please to save the two of us the pain of bashing our foreheads together. I don't need any more brain damage than what I have already got from listening to Buckley go on and on last night about his damn job."
Grumbling underneath his breath Dom removed himself from the bed and slithered out of my bedroom red faced and a slight bruise appearing on his forehead. Chuckling to myself I take a quick shower and get dressed in some fitted black jeans, a clean worktop, and my red and black sneakers. While I was doing that the dream from last night or early this morning plagued my mind into overdrive. Pain echoed in the hole in my heart as I remembered my family before them all up and left. Flowing in with that pain another type of deep stabbing pain appeared which I did not like at all crossed my mind.
As that can it quickly discarded it the best that I could to the back of my mind. With the last of the both types of pains locked up into a box with chains wrapped around it I left my bedroom in the mood of a zombie. I entered the living room where Dom is sitting on the sofa with an ice pack covering his forehead. Dom glanced at me with the best sour pout that he could muster up which made me laugh my heart out. He could never give me a real death glare even if he really tried to do so. At least I know now that he is real and nothing has not changed between the two of us.
"You going to stand in the doorway forever Vivian we haven't got all day you know? My dear brother should be back soon with my - I mean our lunch." Dom said with a grin on his face.
"No I am not thank you very much but I do have some work to do in the bar today. For this particular reason when Dimitri gets back here with your lunch and my late breakfast he two of you can come and help me." I said.
"Buckley called not long after Dimitri left to say he was waiting for you to talk to him about talking to your members of staff who may have witnesses the murder of the girl along with you as well."
"Ignore any further calls from Buckley in the future Dom if you will. Maybelle and I are doing a fantastic job of running the bar on our own and Buckley knows that all the way."
The bitterness in my voice soon dissolved quickly turning into something that drew a flurry of tears out of my tear ducts and down my cheeks. Realising what he said and how badly it has affected me deeply Dom dropped the ice pack on the coffee table next to the sofa and walked over to me. Dom engulfed my small form into a bear like hug as I sobbed my heart out into his shirt. In the next ten minutes, we stood here bound together in a hug not saying anything to each other basking in the tension free silence.
Dimitri walked through the apartment with a large paper bag of food and a bottle of fizzy drink underneath his arm. He took it upon himself to dump the food and drink in the kitchen, and join in on our hug. In addition, in so the three of us huddled together in the silence of the apartment listening to our own breathing patterns. Closing my eyes I lent my head against Dimitri's chest and listening to the traffic whizzing by on the street below.
