Chapter 8: BABY

a/n: so another time skip... but this one is small (only a few months), not like the others (4 years and 1 year). Hope you enjoy and make sure you read the next a/n :) Also this chapter changes p.o.v's often so pay attention.

Ellie's p.o.v. :

I was in the kitchen cleaning up from just my lunch since Kacey is meeting a singer to sing her first song with her.

I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my stomach and felt liquid running down my leg. Crap. My water just broke and my wife isn't home.

I carefully step over the water for my phone to call my wife. I dialed her number and she almost immediately answered

"Hey love. Everything okay?" she asked through the phone

"Yeah, no everything's alright. Just that my water just broke" I said casually

"Shit I'm on my way" she sounded panicked "I'm so sorry but my wife's water just broke nad I need to get home" she must be telling whoever she was meeting that she had to go.

I could here a woman in the background say it was okay as Kacey was running out the door.

I waddled into the bedroom, still on the phone, grabbing our hospital bag and taking it into the living room. I sat down on the couch while Kacey said she was pulling in the neighborhood and hung up the phone.

Kacey's p.o.v. :

I had gotten a call from Ellie while in a meeting for my song telling me that her water had broke. I probably broke every law in the book trying to get here. But I made it and was now trying to help her to the car. Her being stubborn telling me 'I'm not helpless. I can get to the car on my own Kacey'

After she got situated in the car I ran back inside to get the bag and lock the doors, and I sprinted back to the car, throwing the bag in and taking off to the hospital.

Ellie's p.o.v. :

We arrived at the hospital and I was in an extreme amount of pain, but I wasn't going to tell Kasey yet.

We walk in, Kacey running to the front desk to ask for a doctor saying that her wife is in labor and in pain.

I'm walking to the desk that Kacey is standing, yelling, at. 

All of the sudden I get dizzy "Kacey" I see her look back at me before I fall to the ground. 

Everything going black.

Kacey's p.o.v. :

"Kacey" I heard Ellie say

I turned around but before I could do anything, she collapsed

I screamed for a doctor, one finally coming and picking her up, putting her on a bed and running her into a surgical room.

One of the many stayed back to talk to me "We are going to do everything we can to help your wife, ma'am"

I nodded and he ran through the doors they just ran my wife through.

I walked to the waiting room, I could puke right now, knowing that she is in pain and there is nothing that I can do about it. Both of our families are back in Florida but they need to know what is going on. I'll call her mom first.

I dialed her mom's number and after a few rings, she picked up

 "Hello, sweetie" she answered through the phone

"Hi Annie. It's Kacey" I said sniffling "Ellie and I are at the hospital, her water broke"

"Wonderful" she sounded excited

"Yeah, yeah it is. It's just" I paused taking a breath. I didn't realize how hard it would be to talk to her mom about this

"It's just what, honey?" I could tell she was starting to get concerned

"She collapsed at soon as we got here. They have taken her into surgery and are going to let me know an update as soon as they can"

 For a moment she was quiet, she was in shock "O-okay." she stuttered "We will be on the next flight out. Do you want me to call your mom?"

"Yes please" I told her thankfully "I'll call you when I get in update"

We said goodbye and hung up the phone. Thankfully she will call my family and let them know and they will all be here soon.

I sat in the waiting room for what felt like days but it was only hours. I was about to call to see if our family had gotten on the plane yet but a doctor walked over to me. He looks defeated. Oh no.

"Kacey Evans? Are you Ellie Evans wife?" he asked

"Yes sir" I stood up

He sighed "I'm sorry, we did everything we could"

I broke.

"There was just too much bleeding that it overtook your wife's body"

I couldn't help the tears rolling down my face "A-and our baby?"

"She is okay. she in in the NICU now getting some tests to make sure she is alright. If everything comes back normal then she will be able to go home in a couple of days" he explained

"Okay" I nodded "Can I see my wife?" I want to at least see her and get to say goodbye. Even if she can't talk to me

"Yes, of course. Just a moment" he walked away

I sunk back into the chair crying. I can't help but blame myself for this. Maybe if I hadn't taken that meeting today, I could've been home and gotten her here. I should have caught her when she fell. This is all my fault

Around the time I could see the doctor walking back over to me I could here my name being called behind me. Ellie's mom.

"How is she?" she asked "Is she alright"

I shook my head and her shoulders sank, everything about her just defeated

"She didn't make it" I whispered

She started crying her eyes out and the doctor asked "Would you like to see her now" and we both nodded

We walked into the room and both started crying more so the doctor closed the door to give us some privacy.

"What about the baby?" Annie asked between sobs

"It's a girl, and she's okay" I told her what the doctor told me "They are just running some tests now and if they all come back normal she can go home in a few days"

She nodded and we just sat in silence for a couple minutes until I asked where everyone was

"Where is John, Talen, and my parents?"

"I could only get one ticket for the flight I was on so they are getting the next flight. They should be here early morning"

We sat in the chairs in Ellie's room for almost an hour until the doctor came back telling us we needed to leave the room so they can transport her downstairs at the same time a nurse in pink scrubs asked if we would like to see the baby and said that I need to fill out the birth certificate as her other mom.

We walked with the nurse to see the baby. Ellie and I had decided on a name last week, Tatum Marie Evans.

"She's so perfect. What's her name?" Annie asked

"I know, she looks just like her" I said agreeing with her first statement "Her name is Tatum. Tatum Marie Evans"

"That's precious" she smiled
