a/n: Okay, I know that the time skips in here are extreme but it'll all be worth it, trust me :)

Ellie's p.o.v. :

Over the past year that Kacey and I have been married, we moved to a new house (duplex), I started teaching kindergarten, Kacey is rolling on her song writing, and the best part: we started and were successful with IVF treatment for me so we could have a child of our own. We are both over the moon about it and super excited. We converted the extra bedroom of the new house into a nursery for it. We don't know the gender yet but we will next week.

At the moment I am sitting on the couch making the activities for my students this week while my wife sits next to me working on her next song.

"I think this next one, I'm going to sing myself" Kacey said pulling me out of my thoughts

"That will be awesome, baby" I said letting her know that it's a good idea "Can I hear it?"

"Yeah" she got up "Let me go get my guitar"

She came back, sat back down, and started strumming her guitar

"They don't cancel other plans

Have conversations with nothin' but their eyes

They don't hear each other's names and forget to concentrate

Hits a nerve and lights you up like dynamite

Friends don't call you in the middle of the night

Couldn't even tell you why

They just felt like sayin' hi

Friends don't stand around, playin' with their keys

Findin' reasons not to leave

Tryna hide the chemistry

Drive a little to slow

Take the long way home

Get a little to close

We do, but, but friends don't

They don't almost say, I love you

When they're downtown somewhere just a little drunk

They don't talk about the future

And put each other in it

And get chills with every accidental touch

Friends don't call you in the middle of the night

Couldn't even tell you why

They just felt like sayin' hi

Friends don't stand around playin' with their keys

Findin' reasons not to leave

Tryna hide the chemistry

Drive a little to slow

Take the long way home

Get a little too close

We do, but, but friends don't

I keep tellin' myself this might be nothin'

But one look in your eyes and, God, there's somethin'

You can lie and say you don't

But I know you do

And I love you too

Friends don't call you in the middle of the night

Couldn't even tell you why

They just felt like sayin' hi

Friends don't stand around playin' with their keys

Findin' reasons not to leave

Tryna hide the chemistry

Drive a little to slow

Take the long way home

Get a little to close

We do, but, but friends don't

Friends don't"

I clapped "I love it!"

"You better" she laughed "It's about us"

"Really?" I was being sarcastic "I didn't know"

We both laughed again

"What are you going to call it?" I asked

"I'm thinking 'Friends Don't' since it says that so many times and sorta saying that friends don't do the things that were said"

"Sounds perfect, baby" I said and we both went back to our work
