"I'm sorry," continued the doctor "but he did not make it. Evan Buckley was pronounced dead at 10:38 this evening".
Athena's legs buckled and she clung to Eddie for dear life.
"My baby," she cried. "My baby!"
Eddie looked up to see Maddie on the floor, Chim wrapped around her. Hen was nowhere to be seen. He helped Athena to a chair, putting her down before he himself buckled.
He couldn't breath. He needed air. He spun around and fled to the exit, screaming at himself internally for never telling Buck, his dear Evan, how much he truly loved him. How much he needed him.
He made it just outside the doors, before he collapsed in a heap on the concrete.
