Eric up top

I woke up to bright sunlight streaming through the drapes and blinding me. I rolled over and immediately sat up looking around the room. Talon's gone. I thought dropping my face into my hands. Men. I thought sourly throwing the covers back and gasped when my feet hit the cold floor. I walked to the bathroom and turned the knob with hope. I looked around and took in the feminism it exuded with its pink walls and lady hygienic products.

I tucked my hair into a shower cap and adjusted the water to the right temperature. Not too hot, nor too cold. I stepped in and let warm water bead down my body. When my skin started pruning I stepped out, grabbing a towel as my naked body was attacked by cold air.

I had just stepped out the bathroom when the aroma of freshly made pastries hit my nose and I took a deep breath, inhaling it again and again.

"Sorry, I stopped by Krispy Kreme to get you breakfast and my place to change clothes." Talon's voice boomed behind me.

I turned around, crossed my arms, and tapped my foot. Should I forgive him or not? That was the question. I decided to ask the ultimate question. "Are there chocolate doughnuts in there?"

He nodded and extended the box. "There's glazed in there too."

I immediately snatched the box out of his hand. "My babies!" I cuddled the box then turned toward Talon. "Thanks, you're forgiven." He smiled and flopped on my bed, it dipped with his weight.

I ate the first one, savouring the sweet chocolate taste, revelling in how it melted in your mouth, and the soft, fluffy, dough. I'd finished the second one and was about to zone in on my third when Talon interrupted me.

"There's some for Sophia, too." I then realized that I didn't even offer her any or saw if she was okay. My shoulders sagged, as last night's events flooded my mind. "Or, we could just give her,her own box." Talon's arms encircled me and I relaxed in his embrace, the box being the only boundary between us.
"It's not that, it's that I didn't check up on her; I mean she was so scared." He stroked my hair softly, his chin atop my head. I pulled back and made my way to the door, twisting the knob. "You should probably get properly dressed first." He motioned to the towel clinging to my body. "I'm all for it, with hopes of removing that towel and relishing in what's underneath, but Sophia might think you're trying to seduce her."

I grabbed a top, shorts, and headed towards the bathroom. "You could've changed in here, I'll try not to watch, but there's no promises there-" He was cut off by a pillow thrown at his head.

I rolled my eyes and minutes later I was dressed, Talon lying in my bed, his arms behind his head, watching me. "Changed your mind, sweetheart?" He chuckled when I scoffed and left the room.

I walked down the hall to Sophia's room and pressed my ear to the door. Silence. There was no Beyonce music blaring through speakers. "Soph?" I knocked. No answer.

"Sophia, are you in there?"
"Go away, Evey."
"Do you wanna build a snowman, it doesn't have to be a snowman."
"Go away, Evey."
"Ooookay, bye."

I walked back silently to my room and flopped down next to him on my bed. "She's not speaking to me, now."

He stroked my hair, eyes gleaming in amusement. "I heard, nice vocals by the way."

I combed my fingers through my hair and giggled. "Yea it's sort of like a thing now."

He joined in and we paused, as we heard a knock on the door. Talon moved to open the door, but I caught his hand, yelling him to wait.

"Do you wanna build a snowman; Or ride our bikes all down the hall?" Sophia asked behind the door.

" I think some company is overdue;I started talking to the pictures on the wall." I moved toward the door, smiling.

"It gets a little lonely, all these empty rooms, just watching the hours tick by."

"Do you wanna build a snowman, it doesn't have to be a snowman."

"Come in, Sophia."
" Okay, hi."

She opened the door and I tackled her in a bear hug. We fell on the floor, laughing. We finally stood up and all traces of happiness, left her face and was replaced with solemnity.

"Are you, okay?" We asked in unison. She motioned for me to go first.

"Yeah, he was my brother, I'll miss him, but what he did to you is unforgivable."
I paused. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I am, it was a scare, but thanks to Talon I'm fine."

" Talon?"
"Yeah, after the hit, I saw you.....and my body....you're so bright."

She died, realization dawned on me.
I motioned for her to finish.
"
"You looked so beautiful and powerful and-" She stopped abruptly.

"And what?" I asked, concerned.

"I saw Talon, he was chanting in this weird language. Next thing, I was back in my body and gasping for air."

I turned to Talon, who'd remained silent the entire time. "You brought her back to life?" I searched his eyes.

"Yes." He answered as if that was a normal, everyday thing.

Joy,gratitude, and admiration flooded my heart and soul so much, it was as if I vibrated it. I knew him less than a week, but he brought my best friend back to life.......for me.

I placed my hand behind his head, tangling my fingers in his hair, pulling him close as I crashed my lips to his. He was caught off guard for a moment, before he reciprocated. I leaned in, parting my lips as his tongue slid into my mouth. The kiss was gentle and seemed to say all that I wanted to say. Our tongues danced in a rhythm like no other and his fingers threaded in my hair. He lifted me and set me on his lap, so that I was straddling him. Waves of desire bounced off his body onto mine.

" Uh, guys?" Sophia called, interrupting us. l pulled back and looked at him, both of us smiling like fools.

He set me off his lap and onto the bed beside him.

"I'm grateful for the act,but I'm not kissing you, Eric would kill us both." She chuckled as she pulled him into a hug.
"Thanks." She said pulling back and he nodded.

Her eyes cut to mine. "Bad, Evey, you're a lady remember?"

I pulled Talon to his feet with difficulty and pushed him out the door. "Thanks Talon, how about you pick me up at 8?"

"For?" He asked confused.
"Our date, duh." and closed the door in his face.

I smiled and sat next to Soph. "Wanna build a snowman?"

"It's Cali, it never snows."
"Wanna build a sandman?"
" Yeah!"

With a bucket and shovel we raced to the car and drove to Crissy Field.
