Harry was in his dorm drawing, when a knock came at his door. "Come in!" Harry hollered, too lazy to get up and answer it. Ron and Blaise walked in, holding hands. Harry smiled at his bestfriend, happy that he was finally happy.

"Draco wants to talk to you, in his dorm. Apparently it is urgent." Harry nodded, getting out of bed finally. "This ought to be grand." Harry shook his head heading to Draco's dorm.

He knocked twice and the door flung open, he was pulled inside quickly. "Did you read the prophet?" Harry scrunched his face up, "no absolutely not."

"They said I threw you down the other day." Draco held up the headline. Harry threw his head back in laughter, "oh Draco, quit worrying about it. The prophet is dumb and so is everyone who believes it."

Draco glared, "I don't think it's funny, and stop calling me Draco for fucks sake. You said it yourself we aren't friends." Harry was shocked by the bitterness in Draco's tone.

"I was angry when I said that." Harry stated carefully.

"So what? Anger isn't an excuse to be a prick." Harry looked at Draco with a dumbfounded expression, "you're one to talk you git." Draco sighed, "forget it. Just go, and quit calling me Draco."

Harry sighed in defeat, leaving the dorm quietly. That was weird. Did Draco want to be friends? Harry shook his head, he'd never understand Malfoy.

Pansy Parkinson was many things. She wasn't an idiot though. "Listen love I'm telling you they're going to be together before the end of the year." Pansy said, laying her head on Hermione's shoulder.

Hermione shook her head, "as much as I would love that there's no way. They're both too stubborn."

"The war is over now though, and they have the right to be themselves." Pansy grumbled. "We get to."

Hermione smiled sadly, kissing pansy's forehead. "Harry Potters life never works that way. Their resolve is slowly slipping, I can see it. They will be themselves someday."

Pansy smiled up at her girlfriend with admiration, "I have the smartest girl in the entire world to call mine. I'm so happy I finally made the move."

"As am I darling, as am I." Hermione said happily.

Harry still didn't understand what was going on with Draco, he was being even more of a prick and ignoring Harry.

So instead of pining over him, for once, Harry decided to leave Draco Malfoy alone. "So you decided that instead of chasing him you were going to leave him alone?" Ron asked his best mate slowly.

"Yes, that is what I said Ronald." Harry said in a teasing tone, he knew where Ron was going with this.

"Who are you and what have you done with Harry Potter? If you're really my best mate tell me something no one else knows about me?"

"Sure, I have multiple. You still sleep with your stuffed dog you got as a baby. You have a mole on the back of your left thigh. You love cuddles, and love having your hair played with. You used to have a thing for Hermione. Shall I continue?"

Ron was as red as his hair. "No no that's plenty. I'm surprised you were able to pay that close of attention to me with a mad man after you half your life."

"Ronald Bilius Weasley you're my brother. I'd die for you, I know you better than you know you. Anyways, you can believe it's me. I want peace this year and obviously I'm not going to get it with Malfoy, so I'm just backing off."

"That's very emotionally mature of you, as Mione would say, and by the way I didn't think anyone knew me like that. Love you mate."

Harry smiled, "I love you too Ronnie poo." Ron glared at the nickname but couldn't help the smile breaking through. "Shut up Harbear."

"Why is he ignoring me?" Draco asked miserably to Blaise, who chuckled. "You ignored him first, he told Ron he's done trying to make peace with you if you're going to be a prat."

Draco winced, "did he really say that?" Draco didn't want to be just "a prat" to Harry anymore. Yet he found himself doing this over and over again.

"Well that's not exactly how he said it but along those lines yes." Blaise replied with a shrug, he didn't see the point in protecting Draco's feelings anymore. It was about time Draco grew up.

When they went down for lunch, Draco tried all he could to get Harry's attention. He made jokes, yelled 'potter', even shoved him. Yet Harry still ignored him.

"Harry." He finally said, getting  the boys attention finally. Harry looked up with hope in his eyes, that soon turned to a cold expression. "If I get bitched at for calling you Draco, don't fucking call me Harry."

Harry then got up and walked out of the great hall, huffing. He just would never understand that git. He didn't want to understand him anymore. Harry was trying to heal.

With healing came throwing away past burdens, and as harsh as it sounded Malfoy was one of those past burdens. They were grown up now, the war was finally over. Draco helped Harry fight for the light in the end. Draco saved Harry's life. Harry saved Draco's life. Harry stopped Draco from going to Azkaban.

At one point he wanted more from Malfoy. He thought that maybe, just maybe, the two could have a normal friendship. Yet here he was, realizing not soon after that would never be the case.

So he was giving up, something he never did. He'd been watching Malfoy for nearly seven years, and not once did he want to give up on him. He was finally ready to though. He had control of his life now, him and only him.

Harry Potter was finally going to free himself of the hatred and pain that came with involving himself in Draco Malfoys life. He swore to it.

He wanted peace, and peace didn't exist with Draco. So he was done.

Well, that's what he wanted to believe anyways.
