Adam and I had been separated from Kenji and Juliette. Both of us were still invisible, which told me he hadn't gone far.
My brain kept telling me that I was able to be seen, and I would have to look down at myself to guarantee.
"Adam, Adam," I whispered, something just occurring to me. "What's our exit strategy?"
"Have Juliette kill all the soldiers and hope we can get the hell out of here," he replied. I scoffed.
"Good plan," I grumbled.
I clutched Adam's hand and yanked him along the hallways, glancing around desperately for a hint of where he was keeping Bianca.
"We need to find Bianca," I hissed.
We bolted down more corners, trying to figure out the layout of the ship. It was huge, and I was feeling extremely pessimistic.
We ran down so many hallways, but our attempts proved futile. Every corridor looked the same, and there was no sign of anybody.
After a while, we heard gunshots. I jumped, trying to figure out where the gunshots were coming from. It sounded like the floor below us.
"Oh God," I whispered, glimpsing back to see Adam.
We were no longer invisible. His face fell, and I groaned, throwing my head back. He pursed his lips, trying to make a decision.
"Okay, we need to keep moving," he uttered, running ahead.
I followed after him. I went up a set of stairs. Juliette and Kenji were going to fight and find my father. Adam and I were planning on finding Bianca.
I saw a hall of doorways, which caused optimism to swell in my chest. I gripped Adam's arm and led him forward.
The two of us started kicking in doors, finding nobody behind them. I knew all the soldiers were focused on finding Juliette, so I felt that we were not at risk in the moment.
There was nobody in these rooms, so we moved We went up another flight of stairs and starting kicking the doors again. Some of them were locked, which was discouraging.
After going up three more flights of stairs, I was beginning to lose hope. I went up to one more door and kicked in it.
There was a bed, with a large window. The room was actually quite charming. But that was forgotten when I saw who was on the bed.
Physically, she did not look harmed. But I could tell she went through a lot just by gazing at her face.
"Bianca!" I exclaimed, rushing to her. "Oh my God."
"Aurora," she intoned, causing my heart to surge.
I'd known her for my entire life, and she had never said my name like that.
"Juliette was here," she spilled. "She went to find your father. He's two doors down. The room with the blue door."
"Adam, stay here," I told my brother. "Come in if we need you, okay?" He nodded.
"Be careful," he cautioned.
I rushed down the hall and opened the door. Immediately, I was launched to the wall. Excruciating pain was spreading through my entire body.
I noticed Juliette was on the ground. When I tried to get back up, I was thrown down again. I tried to lift my head, then something hit me again. I couldn't even scream.
Finally, I glanced up again, seeing my father and another person. The person clapped, and Juliette and I were both chucked to the wall again.
The hits came over and over again, until I felt that I must've been dying.
But then, it stopped. I gazed back, seeing Adam behind me.
The boy clapped several times, but nothing happened. My eyes widened as I realized that Adam had turned his power off.
My father was shooting at Juliette, but the bullets ricocheted off of her body. She reached up and gripped his ankle, clenching her fist.
His screams pierced through the air, and I almost smiled. I stood up, seeing Kenji and the other boy on the floor.
I took my gun and stood over my father, who seemed to be trying to say something. I scoffed, pointing the gun at his head.
I glared down at him, anger coursing through my veins. I studied him for just a second or so, before pulling the trigger.
He had turned me into a cold blooded killer when I was just a child. He taught me to shoot the very gun I was holding. The gun I used to kill him.
I felt no regret, and no guilt as he slumped to the ground. Any love I had once felt for him vanished when my mother died.
His lifeless blue eyes sent no emotion except relief through my body. I knew I would not miss him.
I tucked the gun back into it's holster. Juliette threw Kenji over her shoulder and kicked down the door. The three of us made our way back to the room Bianca was in.
"Fix him," Juliette pleaded, placing Kenji on the bed.
Bianca and I exchanged a glance, knowing that both of us were a bit worn out. But it was Kenji, and we would do what he had to do to save him.
The two of us got to work, healing the boy. We held our hands to his head, then his heart. We took turns forcing life back into his body until he stirred, his eyes flickering but no opening.
After a while, we were finally done. He was still asleep, but we were able to keep him from dying.
"Did it work?" Juliette asked, raising her eyebrows.
"He's asleep," I informed her, nodding my head.
"Will he get better?" she questioned, her eyes wide with concern. "Fully?"
"We hope," Bianca confirmed. "But he'll be asleep for a few days. The damage was pretty deep. What happened?"
"Pressure waves," I answered. I wondered why they hadn't affected me. Maybe I was stronger than I thought I was.
"Anderson is dead," Juliette observed. Bianca's eyes widened.
"I killed him," I confessed, staring down at my lap. I was now wondering if it was the right move.
"When did you become a hero?" she wondered, raising an eyebrow.
"I just saved your life," I reminded her, rolling my green eyes.
"You're the last person on earth I wanted to rescue me," she bantered, though there was a smile playing her lips.
"Well, I apologize," I replied, staring at the breathtaking girl.
"Let's go," Adam instructed from the doorway. "This war is over. We have to tell the others."
"There are soldiers everywhere," Bianca pointed out.
"Not anymore," Juliette said simply. She hoisted Kenji onto her shoulders. "Ready?" We nodded. Bianca grabbed my hand, and I yanked it back.
"Don't flatter yourself, princess, I'm just trying to make sure we get out of here alive," she smirked.
