We were the last to get to the plane, but luckily, we arrived before they took off. Nazeera rushed us into the plane. I went to the back, seeing Ella and Aaron sitting together.

"Ella," I whispered, walking over to her and tugging her into a hug. She hugged me back, resting her head on my shoulder. We pulled away and I studied her face. "Did you see Emmaline?"

"Yes," she nodded, tears forming in her eyes. "She's alive. But she wanted me to kill her. She's the one who's been giving us back our memories." I sighed, glancing at the ground.

"I really miss her," I told Ella.

She nodded, dragging me into another hug. Aaron stood up and pulled me into his arms when she yanked away. I hugged him back, thankful that we were both okay.

"Dad's alive," I said quietly.

"I know," he commented, his arms tightening around me. "You okay?" I nodded, hiding my face in his neck.

"He's going to kill me," I said low enough for only him to hear me.

"I'm not gonna let that happen," he promised.

I went and sat in the back with Bianca, not caring if anyone knew about us anymore. I'd been through far too much to care. I cuddled into her arms and let her kiss my forehead.

Ella stepped over to me after Aaron went to the cockpit and sat down next to me. I rested my head on her shoulder.

"Do you remember your sixth birthday?" she asked me. "It was one of the first memories that was restored for me."

"Yes," I admitted. "That was my worst birthday." She grimaced.

"I remember your mother wasn't feeling well that day," she recalled. "It was when she was just starting to get sick. Your father insisted that my mother take me, Emmaline, and Aaron out for the day."

"Yes," I remembered. I had spent the morning with Emmaline and my father had forced her to leave.

"When we got back, we couldn't find you," she remembered. "And when we did, my mother insisted that you needed to go to a hospital, but your father refused. And my mother had to fix you right there on the kitchen table."

"I'm very lucky Evie was a doctor," I joked. In all honestly, I had lost a lot of blood. "He was especially angry with me that year because he found out I'd told Emmaline. By the time he was done, the whip was practically embedded in my skin. He'd sliced me to the bone."

"I'm going to take great pleasure in killing him again," she murmured, pushing her long hair out of her face. I wondered how it had grown back so quickly.

Aaron's Pov

"You were going to propose to her," Kenji said while chewing his food. I exhaled a long, heavy breathe.

"How could you have even known something like that?" I demanded.

"Because I'm not deaf," he replied. I raised my eyebrows. "It echoes in here."

"It certainly does not echo in here," I retorted.

"Stop changing the subject," he said, shaking more fruit into his mouth. "The point is you were going to propose. Do you deny it?" I looked away, running a hand along the side of my neck, massaging the sore muscles.
