Where was he? The panic ran loose in my veins as I blasted through the tunnels, straining my ears to follow any sign of Ominis' voice. But every turn I took was nothing but a dead end. The other champions' screams rang true through the tunnels, Were they in search of their own friends as well? I wondered.
"Y/N! Help!"
"Ominis!?" I screamed frantically, rushing towards the sound of his voice. My thoughts flitted to Anne for just a moment. Desperation sinking into me like hot ice. What use was I as a keeper if I couldn't even save my friends? Power and Knowledge were useless if you couldn't protect those you care about.
I entered a new cavern where Ominis' voice had resonated through to be met with more spiders. Instinctively, my hand reached up to protect my shoulder, already having been closed by the Wiggenweld, but a grim reminder at best.
"Wand at the ready" I murmured, eyeing the hanging bodies on the ceiling, In a flash of green the spiders lunged for me hungrily. Their hungry maws snapping at any limbs that were too slow to move.
Bombarda!
Decendo
Confringo!
My eyes scanned the hanging bodies, spotting two that seemed to be wiggling in motion. No time to think, I pointed my wand, and with a flick of my wand I casted
Diffind-
Webbing encased me quickly, tighter and tighter the web wound around me. I was a fool, a desperate fool. Breathing heavily, I needed to think quick and fast to get out of here. I knew what to do. Boy would this hurt, My jaw set as I gripped my wand
Incendio
I screamed the incantation before the web could cover my mouth, desperately flicking my wand with the necessary movements. There was nothing but silence, until the webbing finally caught, and engulfed me into a blazing fire. The flames licked and ate at my flesh and clothes relentlessly, before I could quickly roll and snuff the flames out.
But we weren't done just yet. I eyed the spiders cautiously before jumping into action.
Cast, Transfigure, lift, throw.
Dodge, Decendo, Confringo, Diffindo!
Transfigure, throw, protego, stupefy!
Finally, silence.
The room was filled with dead spiders strewn about, their corpses mangled, burnt and rigid. My breathing came out in heavy bursts, as I tried to catch my breath, my eyes never stopped scanning the ceiling.
Diffindo!
Nothing. The webbed pockets were filled with more bones. The wiggling only proved to be a trick of my mind. Blast it. What in the world was this trial? Reaching down, my fingers fiddled with my front pocket and found another healing potion for myself. My burns stung, and my hair smelled.
I tossed back the thick potion and let it heal the burns I had acquired. I must have looked like a mess, I tore off my jacket, torn to shreds by the flames I had inflicted upon myself. Glad that I wore another top underneath.
More screams echoed against the walls of the tunnels. Only the dim light from some glowing moss and scattered torches shined through. I took another moment to compose myself, catching my breath, as I glanced at the little insect that was recording my every move.
I wondered if they had heard me screaming Ominis' name. I narrowed my eyes, I could not help but think this was a horrible way to egg on the champions. I quickly counted my remaining potions, and trudged on.
