During the day I wasn't allowed to visit Elizabeth who was apparently doing last minute training. As if that was enough. But now that dinner was over I was allowed to visit her in her new room. I walk down the hall towards the new room right at the front. I knocked three times and Elizabeth opened the door. I walking and immediately start rambling
"They can't actually think this is a good idea can they I mean your not ready. Like I saw you yesterday and your really good surprisingly good for you first time but still your not ready for a task especially an important dangerous task." She stopped me placing her hand over my mouth to muffle my words
"I know your worried but you don't have to be I've looked over the files of what we're doing. I'm only the look out I won't be hurt." She says as an attempt to comfort me. I try and speak but her hand stops me
"Do your promise to not be so overprotective and stressed?" She asks. With a sigh I nod my head "ok then." She says taking her hand off my mouth
"You better not die on me Elizabeth I need you." I say. She smiles at me
"How about when I get back we get out of here?" She says
"What?" I ask
"When I get back we can run away. Start a new life." She replies
"You really think we can do that?" I ask
"Of course we can." She insists "while I'm gone you can make a plan. You'll tell me when I get back and then we'll escape and it'll just be me and you. Me and you forever." She tells me
"Forever." I repeat smiling. "I love that."
She smiles at me
"Well I have to go pack for tomorrow I'll be back in five minutes if you want to wait." She said
"Yeah I'll wait." I reply sitting on the bed. When she leaves I decide to take a look around the room. The lay out is almost the exact same as mine with a desk at the window so you could see the setting sun that painted the sky. A wardrobe pushed against the far wall and a bed pushed to the opposite wall a bed side table with nothing but a lamp on it for now. The rooms were pretty basic and plain especially when you haven't lived in it for long but it's nice to have a safe space just for yourself. I start thinking about our life outside this school. Where we'd live. If we'd have pets. I would r want a bog probably golden retriever and Elizabeth would want a cat probably a black cat. So we'd but a kitten and a puppy so we could raise them together and have them like each other. I started think about what kind of house we'd want. I'm thinking some cottage by the lake where you can go into town with a 5 minute drive but at her than that it's completely secluded. A safe place for me and her and our pets. It made me happy to think about. A life outside of this. It honestly wasn't something I'd ever imagined until now. But now that I have thought of it I can't stop. I have a week to plan. I'm gonna get us out of here. Like Elizabeth had said about five minutes later she came back but now with a suitcase full of stuff.
"How about you stay the night?" Elizabeth said as she walked through the door.
"That sounds nice but I don't think Mrs Turner would let us." I reply although I really do want to stay
"She doesn't have to know." Elizabeth says
"What do you mean she checks on us every night." I laugh. There was no way we'd get away without her knowing.
"Well you could wait until she checks on you the sneak back here." She suggested
"Can't. There's a security camera. It can't actually see your room but it's points almost directly at mine and it turns on after Mrs Turner leaves she'll know." I reply
"Well I mean most the time she expects us to be asleep when she checks on us right? So how about you lay your pillows out to look like your asleep in bed and then just stay here." She says
"That actually might work." I smile "yes it actually might. I'm gonna do that now you wait here."
I head back to my room and gather the pillows on my bed to look like I'm asleep. I actually might be able to do this when we try to escape if it works tonight. After I lay out my bed I grab anything I'll need before turning out the lamp and heading back over to Elizabeth's room. I get to her room and knock three times. Elizabeth opens the door again.
"Did it work?" She asks
"I hope so. It does look like I'm asleep." I tell her
"Come in then Mrs Turner will be coming soon." She replies pulling me in her room
I walk in and I set my stuff down in the corner out of sight.
"Ok when Mrs Turner comes you hide in the closet and I'll get in bed so she doesn't suspect a thing." She instructed
"Alright. You know we might actually be able to use this to escape if it works tonight." I say
"Yeah your right it might." She replies
Just then we heard the door at the end of the hall open. I jump into the closet and Elizabeth climbs into bed. I hear Mrs Turner approaching the door and then the light of the hall flooded into the room. I saw Mrs Turner looking at Elizabeth before turning around and leaving. I watched the door close but stil, waited in the closet.
"Are you going to come out?" Elizabeth whispered
"In a second I don't want Mrs Turner to realize I'm not in bed and come in here and catch us together." I whisper back. So we sit and wait. After a couple minutes we hear Mrs Turner walking back to the door at the end of the hall then we hear her locking the door like usual and then she's gone. I stand up
"You can really hear everything out there from this room."I say
"I know it could be useful one day." She replies and I know exactly what she's talking about.
"We need to find a way to get that key." I say
"True." She agrees
"I'll have a plan for that too by the end of the week." I tell her
"Of course you will." She says "now stop just standing there like a creep and come to bed."
I laugh walking over to the bed and laying down next to her. She rests her head on my shoulder and ten minutes later she's asleep.
"I love you so much Elizabeth." I whisper " I can't wait for our life together."
Before I fall asleep next to her. Having probably one of the best sleeps I've had since the incident. I was woken up early the next morning. Not from a nightmare though but from Elizabeth. She was leaving her room
"Are you leaving without saying goodbye?!" I accuse
"Well no really there's a note." She say
"Wait so you we're gonna leave me with nothing but a stupid note?" I say
"Well I saw you asleep and you've told me about you nightmares that I saw you weren't having and I didn't want to wake you. You've been needing a full nights sleep." She confesses
"Oh... that's sweet. It really is but next time wake me ok. I don't care if I haven't slept in years I'd rather be able to say goodbye to you." I say. She puts down her bag and walks over to me.
"I'm gonna miss you." She whispers
"I'm gonna miss you too. Make it back safe yeah?" I say
"Yeah." She repeats. She kisses me once before pulling away
"Now I've really got to go. I'll see you in a week." She say
"Bye." I call out as she leaves
"Get some more sleep you need it." She calls back
And just like that Elizabeth's out on her first task.
