I watched the red water drain away before I turn off the water from the tap I open the cabin above the sink and pull out the bandage and I rap my hands. This was the third time this month I failed. I've not been myself recently not since the incident. I pull off my dirty clothes and put something fresh on then I head back to my room but I'm stopped by my mum. She's not actually my mum my real mum died in a car crash when I was young and she found me at the orphanage and decided to take me in so I always just referred to her as mum all the kids did to us she was mum and we were all siblings.

"Ruby darling can I speak to you for a moment?" She asked

"Yes mum?" I replied turning around

"In my office please." She says walking towards her office

This can't be good it's very rare someone is taken to her office and when they are it's usually because they're in trouble. We get to her office and she gestures for me to sit in the chair in-front of her desk. I sit down and she tells me to wait while she get us some tea. I look around I'd never been into her office before and it was completely different to the rest of the building. It was dark the only sauce of light was through a small window in the corner but that light was fading fast with the setting sun. The desk was old fashioned and on the other side of the room there was a bookshelf filled with books that looked hundreds of years old. I leaned back in the wooded chair and waited for my mum to come back. When she did she set the tea down in-front of me and then sat opposite me and began to speak

"Ruby do you have any idea why I brought you in here?" She asked

"No." That was a lie I was almost certain why but I didn't want to tell her incase I was wrong

"Look Ruby ever since the well the incident you don't seem to be doing very well you've already let three targets get away." She says looking at me with concern. Yep I knew it

"I've not been myself recently but it's nothing to worry about I won't let it happen again." I say before taking a sip of my tea

"Now I know it must be hard having seen... what you saw." She can't even say it out loud

"One of my sisters was murdered in front of me on a mission you said would be completely safe we had no weapons because we trusted you and now someone's dead because of it!" I say standing up

"Ruby sit down." I did "honey I didn't know." She says trying to calm me down

"Do you ever really know?ever check that the tasks you set your kids are safe for them. Kassies dead. She was 13 years old and now she's dead because of you so I'm sorry if I don't fully trust you anymore because now every time you tell me it's going to be safe I don't fully believe you I've been on edge because I don't want to die like Kassie did!" I shout before standing up and walking towards the door

"Don't you dare walk away from me Ruby." She says

I ignore her and keep walking back toward the room before locking the door. I wanted to run away leave this place behind but I couldn't I knew I couldn't and so did my mother so did everyone I'd be caught and sent to jail the mystery assassin finally caught this was the only place I was safe because this is the only place the police will never check because they don't know about this place. they never have. By 6:30pm the sun had completely set and the only light in the room now was a small lamp on my desk it was dinner time and I knew I had to go I hadn't had anything to eat today I was busy with my task so I stand up and head to the cafeteria. I pick up a tray and get some food soup bread and an apple on side mother always wanted to make sure we ate healthy, sugar was banned. I head to the back of the cafeteria and sit on a table alone not really wanting to talk to people. Kassie was my only real friend along with Emma but she's out on a task right now, here the others weren't mean but they never really talked to me. Just then mother comes in followed by a girl I didn't recognize. She was rather pretty with soft brown hair that went to her waist and brown eyes you could get lost in
