Florence's Backstory

Disclaimer: You don't necessarily have to read these next 3 chapters ( you can skip to chapter 1 if you choose) but they are Florence's backstory and do tell you why Charles and her ended up in a secret relationship.

My older sister Anna dated Jules, who was Charles' godfather, up until she died. My parents left my sister and I when I was a baby, so I don't remember them or what happened but I do know that subject used to make Anna upset so I would never mention it. So we were sent to live with our Aunt, who lived in France.

Across the street from our Aunts apartment was a local karting track that was owned by the Bianchi family. Jules, the owner's son, would walk home from school with my sister Anna every day and would always come over to see if we wanted to come to see him practice. Anna was 8 years older than me but she was my absolute best friend and we did everything together. Both she and Jules were my whole life and were practically the ones who raised me.

My Aunt's husband was a deadbeat and he despised that my sister and I were living with them and would complain that we were wasting his food and spending his hard-earned money. My aunt wasn't any better though, she would always get angry for no reason and would complain that we were too much work, and it didn't help that we made her husband angry because then he would yell at her, which would lead to her getting angry at us. Which was what led Anna and I to spend so much time at the track with Jules.

On Anna's 18th birthday, our aunt's husband said he had had enough and kicked her out. She didn't know what to do but Jules, without hesitation, asked her to take me and move in with him. He was racing in F2 by then and had recently bought his own place in Monaco.

Everything was perfect. We were finally in a home that we felt loved in, and my sister was the happiest I had ever seen her.

The next 4 years were the happiest I had ever been in my life. Part of me saw Anna and Jules as my parents, they surely acted like it. Anna homeschooled me so that I could come with her to all of Jules' races. He would call us his "good luck charm". The three of us would do everything together.
