5 years later (Present Day)

I wake up to a pair of little hands cupping my cheeks.

"Mamma sei sveglia?"

" I am now, amore" I smile as I look into my son's beautiful yellow-green eyes.

" Oh good, because it's morning time, and I slept in my own bed last night," Jules says with a smile as he shakes his head up and down.

I laugh " It sure is and you sure did. Why don't you head to the kitchen and I'll meet you there."

" Ok," he says as he walks out the door. I lay back down and close my eyes. " Don't even think about going back to sleep, Mamma." He says from all the way down the hallway.

"Ughhh, fine," I groan as I get out of bed. I promised Jules yesterday that if he slept in his own bed last night, I would take him to a new park that we saw on our walk a couple days ago.  He didn't actually sleep in his own bed though. I checked on him at around 3:00 AM and he was sleeping at the foot of my bed, on the floor. But it was better than him sleeping with me and kicking me all night long. At this point, I'll take what I can get.

As I walked towards the kitchen, I looked out the window in the hallway. I see the track down below. Home. When I moved to Italy I didn't have a place lined up to live in when I arrived. The upstairs of the gokart track building was completely empty so Pablo said that if I cleaned it up, I could stay here while I saved up for my own place.

I severely underestimated how expensive it was to raise a child so it took me a little bit longer than I anticipated. By the time he was 3, I was financially stable enough to look for a new place. I met my friend Sebastian here. He has been by my side through everything. He has been the closest thing to a father figure Jules has had and he has been my backbone for the last 5 years.

About 2 years ago he was offered a job working as a RedBull mechanic. He was hesitant to take the job because he didn't want to leave Jules and I on our own but eventually pushed him to take it because it was an amazing opportunity. He was the person mainly in charge of the track because Pablo still lived in Monaco. So when Sebatian left, Pablo gave me the job.

One day as a joke, I asked him how much it would cost to buy the track off of him and he actually gave me a price. With a little discount, since he said he considers us family. Surprisingly it was something I could manage. By that point, the track was my home. It was Jules' home. I couldn't bring myself to pack our life up and move somewhere else. So with the money I had been saving up to buy a house, I was able to get the track instead.

"Mamma!" Jules yells

" I'm coming!" I holler back. As I reach the kitchen I am greeted with a carton of milk spilled all over the floor, a bowl thrown upside down on the table, a cereal box on a chair, and a worried Jules standing in the middle of it all.

" Oh mio" I gasp while trying to hold in my laughter. He looks horrified.

" I- I- '' he tries to say. "I was trying to get breakfast ready for us, and I tried carrying everything at once, but then it all fell." He looks at me with desperate eyes. I can't help it and start laughing hysterically.

"It's not funny Mamma!" He says, I can tell that he is getting frustrated.

" Ok ok." I say in between laughs. " Thank you for wanting to help. No need to worry, we can just clean this up." I say calmly, not wanting to upset him any more.

I pick him up and place him to the side. " Go get me some washcloths from the washroom so we can clean up the milk." I say as I start to pick up the milk carton.
