Chapter 10

Hey guys! Sorry its taken me so long to update. I've started finals week at school so everythings been pretty hectic haha. I hope to get back to posting more often once it's all over with so maybe within the next week or so!

Quick question, would you guys like to see some other POVs? Like Charles and Max? Idk if I could do Jules cause he's a kid and I'm not too sure what he could be thinking haha 😅.

We meet up with Sebastian, Mariana, and her family at the Garage. As we approach the table, everyone stares at us.

"No. Way." Matteo says with his mouth wide open in complete shock.

"Yo-, you're Max Verstappen." Nico stutters as he points up to Max. Jules looks up at him and then back to the twins.

"Yeah, he's my friend," Jules says quickly with a smile and goes to hold Max's hand. "Right, Maxie?"

Max looks up at me with a grin. That cheeky little kid. I love that he called Max his friend, and by Max's face, so did he.

"Of course, little man." he says to Jules as he pats his head "Who are your friends?"

Max crouches down to the ground and starts asking the boys all sorts of questions. Between their broken Italian and Antonio translating their Portuguese, they are all having a blast. Seeing Max be so kind and sweet to the kids really melts my heart. He genuinely pays attention to what they're saying and he is so gentle. Jules hasn't said a word, but seeing the smile plastered on his face lets me know that he is having the time of his life.

After a while, Sebastian asks the boys if they want to see the car before the race and they obviously say yes.

"Hello, Schat," He says with a smirk.

"Hello, 'Maxie'," I say with a grin. Poking at what Jules called Max earlier.

"Thank you for coming," he says dearly, as he wraps his arms around me. I look up at him and stare into his blue eyes. "I've had such a terrible couple of days and it's such a relief to have you here."

"I'm glad I could come," I say, giving him a grin.

"Max!" A man angrily shouts as he walks into the room. Max immediately pushes me away and stands up straighter.

"Dad?" he says, a bit shocked. "Wha-, what are you doing here?"

"What are you doing?" Max's dad says as he looks over at me. "Who is this?"

Max looks at me and then back to his father. " She is one of Daniel's friends."

"Daniel isn't here," his father says back as he gestures around the room. "So why are you talking to her?"

Max looks at his father, unable to get any words out. After a few seconds, then looks down. "Just being friendly, Dad."

"Friend?" He scoffs. "What you should be doing is getting ready for the race, not chit-chatting with a girl. What the hell is wrong with you?" Max's dad says, raising his voice.

"I leave you alone for a couple of weeks and you completely lose your focus. This is fucking unacceptable, Max. Let's go. Now. " His father says as he flashes me a disgusted look.

"Sorry sir," Max says as they start walking away. We make eye contact before he walks out of the room, without another word. I looked over at Marianna, who saw the whole thing.

"What the hell was that?" Marianna whispers as I walk over to her. I sit down and try to process what just happened. I had heard about Max's dad through the news, never good things though. I thought it was all rubbish though, especially after meeting Max and seeing how sweet he was. But by Max's reaction, I think there might be some truth to what the tabloids have said.
