Chapter 47

Alex leaned against some storage containers at the hanger bay while listening to Sam and Bucky talk—though bickering would be better at describing their conversation. The trio were waiting for transport to Germany to be ready.

"I have a feeling they might be part of the big three" Sam assumed.

Bucky's brows creased in confusion. "What big three?" he asked.

"THE big three."

Alex looked between the two with a brow raised.

"What big three?" Bucky was clearly annoyed at this point.

Sam huffed. "Androids, Aliens and Wizards." he clarified and was met with a deadpan look from the super soldier.

"That's not a thing."

"That's definitely a thing" Sam defended his opinion like it was gold on a platter.

Bucky shook his head. "No, it's not."

"Every time we fight, we fight one of the three." Sam said, and Alex began to think on it. In a way it was true, Sam was on to something.

"So who we fighting now, Gandalf?" Bucky asked. There was a smug as fuck grin on his face.

"Ye-wait," Sam furrowed his brows and narrowed his gaze. 

"How do you know about Gandalf?"

"I read the hobbit, in 1937, when it first came out. If you think i don't know things then you have the wrong super soldier." Bucky assured. "I'm very well versed in everything including pop culture."

Sam nodded slowly, taking note of that while stroking his chin. 

"So you see my point then."

"No. I don't," Bucky said with a glare. "There are no wizards."

Sam rolled his eyes with a scoff. "Doctor Strange-"

"Is a sorcerer," Bucky cut in before Sam could finish his sentence.

"Aha! A sorcerer is a wizard without a hat." Sam snapped quickly, pointing his finger at Buckys chest as if he won the battle. Alex had to look away to bite back a smile, she couldn't help but wonder if they were always like this while out on the field.

"Think about it..." Sam said and Alex chuckled lightly. She began to voice her opinion when Bucky shot her a warning look. It almost seemed as if he was hurt that she'd choose Sam's side over his.

"No," He said, addressing his girlfriend. "You shush, respectively you're not part of this conversation, doll."

Sam barked a laugh while Bucky shook his head at the stupidity of this whole topic.

"The people we are after don't use magic. They'll be using brute force, just like us." Alex reminded them. They knew she meant herself and Bucky. 

Sam shot Bucky a glare. "Yeah, Bucky—the incredibly annoying guy in front of me with the staring problem."

Alex laughed but she stopped when her boyfriend sliced his eyes her way. "Sorry" she mouthed, smiling innocently. Sam checked his phone for any updates and picked up his duffle bag. 

"Okay, looks like the jets ready, let's head out." He began heading over to the aircraft. They met up with Joaquin Torres on board and Sam introduced him to Alex and Bucky.

"Hey Torres, nice to meet you." Alex greeted with a smile and he returned one. Her gaze was so full of charisma he had to look away, feeling a little flustered. It didn't help when his eyes met Buckys hard stare.
