Marshal during his time in Epsilon-6
Undisclosed location

Marshal's POV

It would've been better if we didn't have to go here when it's damn foggy.. I sighed. It was night and the skies was foggy. We were in a rural area, so we could mainly see fields. Had to use our nods cause we could barely see a thing.

"Just up ahead that bridge." Our CO, Phantom, said, as the squad moved alongside him to the bridge. "Overwatch, this is [DATA EXPUNGED], we're nearing the infecteds, over." Phantom informed via the radio. "Solid copy, Phantom. Amidst the horde of the zeds will include a canister dispersing the gas. Keep your gas masks on. Do NOT fire any unsupressed weapons. We don't want to alarm the villagers."

"Why couldn't Beta-7 deal with this?" I whispered to Shew, who was beside me. "That's something you should talk about with the CO." He replied.

"Thanks for the tip, Overwatch. We'll inform you when the job's done. Out." Phantom let go of the radio.

"We're here." He said as we stopped at some sort of cave. He walked closer, seeing that we have to rappel down. "Well, this isn't the type of cave y'all would expect. Use your rappel." We moved to the edge and hooked the rappel to the carabiner, getting ready to descend.

The rest moved earlier. Me and Shew stayed for a while. "Guess we're Beta-7's 'Crazy Hatters' now." I chuckled. "Heh, no shit." We descended, and while doing so, the fog disappeared. We landed and saw the CO and the squad.

We unhooked the rappel as we readied our weapons. We looked behind us and saw multiple tunnels. We took the right tunnel since it led to our objective.

"Stay sharp. These things could pop up any time, anywhere." phantom said as we aimed our weapons at all directions (of course lowering it when we look at a friendly) and moving cautiously and quickly.

We found a body that looks like an Insurgent. "CI? Marshal, check it out." I nodded and walked to the body.

On his leg was a really large scratch and bites all over his arm. "Bites and a large scratch here. You sure they just bite?" I asked. "Overwatch, this is Phantom, we found a large scratch on a CI's body. Seems to be a sign of a mutated zed, over." Phantom contacted Overwatch via the radio again. "Copy that, proceed with caution. Over."

Behind the body was an HK. I checked the mag and it was empty. The body's vest pouches didn't have any mags either. His secondary was out and so was his mags for it. The FAST helmet he was wearing was unstrapped, and the gas mask seemed to be falling off. His gloves were torn and so were his clothes.

"The guy seemed to have really bad aim or these zeds are just strong." I said. I stood up and saw a squad member inspecting the body of different zeds. "Not one zed is wearing a helmet." He said.

"Simple enough. Aim for the head." I said. We continued moving. The silence was filled with water dripping and an eerie ambience - at least for the others.

Phantom suddenly stopped moving, raising his fist up and we all crouched. "There's the objective." He whispered. "Marshal, take some of the squad to the right. The rest, on me."

We moved again and saw a load of zeds. We exited the tunnel and the height of this part of the cave is really high. I could see the gas and the canister being protected by 'em. We positioned ourselves and waited for Phantom to initiate the attack.

"Phantom, this is Marshal, we're in position. What's your status? Over."
"We're in position. Start shooting when you're ready."

I commanded those with the LMG to cover us as me and the other team push when I say so.

"Do it." I told the gunners.

We started pushing and bullets whizzed above and beside us. There were yelling and mainly silenced gunshots as we ran.

Almost every zed fell to the ground, and some of them ran to us.

Fortunately for us, we had no casualties. I was pushed to the ground as a zed layed on top of me, trying to bite me. He moved his head quickly, opening his mouth, revealing vampire-like teeth.

I put a nearby rock in between its teeth as it bit the rock, crunching it. I kick it, making it stand up, so I hit its head with the stock of my gun, falling down. It tries to get up, its hand reaching to grab my arm, but it dies as soon as I put bullets in its brain.

"That's it?" I scoffed. I continued pushing with the other team and saw the canister. "There it is!" Phantom yelled. "CLOSE THE GODDAMN THING!" He yelled again.

I ran faster than the others, closing the canister. I continued dropping the remaining zeds.

It was all over. All of 'em were on the ground. The team moved to us as I reloaded. I let go of the weapon as I put it on my back.

"Nice job." The others said as I fist-bumped Shew. "All in a day's work of an Epsilon, or rather 'Crazy Hatters', eh?" Me and Shew laughed. "Overwatch, this is Phantom. Zeds are taken care of and we have control of the canister. Requesting exfil to our location, over."

"Copy that Phantom. Evac is 5 mikes out. Good job."

"Easy day Overwatch, out."

Phantom walked to me and pat my shoulder. "How's my Sergeant?"

"Combat-ready and obliged to perform my tasks as always, sir." I replied as we smiled.

"Good. Let's head back out of this cave. Evac's coming."

Outside

We could see the blades of the chopper as we moved closer.

"I heard Alpha-1 wanted you before you joined Epsilon. Is that true?" Shew asked me.

"Mhm."

"Why?" He asked.

"Because of how charming, handsome, cool and skilled I am." We laughed as we neared the chopper.

We all boarded it and sat down. The chopper ascended as the rest talked to each other.

"Ayo Marshal, check your room when we get back. Someone told me there's something or someone waiting for you there." Wolf said. "Yeah, thanks." I responded. "No problemo Sergeant."

What could possibly be waiting for me? Did I do something? I thought to myself.
