NAGI HAD LET HIM go. For now.He didn't want to start a fight with Reo, not again and certainly not if he wanted them to put their past behind them. Giving up wasn't in his plans, however. He had to make things right between them.
To some extent, Nagi had been expecting this rejection. He predicted it with half his brain melting while he was drunk; Reo would be an asshole the following day. They had played house in the morning, acting like roommates or a couple of friends – See, Reo? We can be friends if we follow our hearts – But then, Nagi's luck had run out, and somehow, they were back to the typical feud of a pair of exes.
hOn the bus, Reo had been a bit harsh, but Nagi was trying to put himself in Reo's shoes instead of going straight to labeling his behaviors as childish, spoiled, or mean. He wasn't the most empathetic person on the planet and couldn't really guess all of Mikage's thoughts, but Reo had made his feelings pretty evident; he didn't believe Nagi could change.
And if Nagi couldn't change, he couldn't be good for Reo because whoever he was when they had been seventeen had done more harm than good.
So, Nagi would prove him wrong. He just had to figure out how to.
"And he left?" Isagi asked, looking very concentrated on the retelling of Nagi's misadventures.
"He left," Nagi repeated, nodding at his screen.
Unlike Reo, Nagi had never told any of his friends the details of their situation. Usually, he kept his life intimate. Nagi used to think it was because he grew up independent, without having to seek others for help; but lately, it felt like he hadn't told people out of fear of being judged more than anything. Also, if he wanted Reo to trust him, Nagi would have to learn to trust him and many others.
Thus, part of his path to being a more mature individual involved trying to open up.
'You're not going to put your heart out there.' Reo had said. Well, watch me.
It might be midnight in Japan, but Isagi was always available for his friends, even more so if the conversation involved gossip. "Wow, okay, so. How are you feeling, man?" He asked, approaching Seishiro with a question he hadn't expected.
"Me?" Perhaps he had been a bit too focused on Reo's side of the story. "Sad, I guess. But not really disappointed. I was half prepared for his rejection anyway."
"I mean, yeah, right, I get it," however, Isagi looked like he had something else to say that he was struggling to voice out loud.
"What?"
