NAGI WISHES he could've gone to the Canadian camp his coach had gone to. Because sure, packing his stuff and flying abroad was a hassle, but now that the Olympics were near, he would've liked a chance to get advice and tips from different coaches - just to have more opinions. Ego disagreed, though. The closer they were to Worlds, the more he wanted to keep Nagi on a leash. He kept saying Nagi had to focus and prioritize skating now, with no distractions if he wanted to get one of the Olympic spots.

His record was supposed to be perfect. He hasn't done anything fun in God knows how long because he's been training extra hours with Isagi and Rin. Both of them would also be at World's, and they were all Ego's current best bet for the Olympics.

Even then, Nagi wasn't complaining. It meant he could spend less time at home, and more time doing something he liked with people he actually liked as well.

Isagi came to rest by his side, wiping his sweat away with a towel. Somehow, even under the rink's temperatures, they had managed to break a sweat. It said a lot about their level of exertion.

"If I don't get first place after all this shit, I swear I'm quitting," Isagi complained, catching his breath.

Nagi knew it was an exaggeration because of how silly it sounded coming out of the mouth of the most ambitious skater he knew. "Well, it was nice being your teammate while it lasted," he still joked in a monotonous tone.

Isagi punched him in the shoulder, shaking his head but smirking at his comment regardless. "It's not like you'll be first place either."

"And why's that?"

"Because in the hypothetical case where I don't win, it wouldn't be my fault, you know? I wouldn't fuck up. Someone would have to do better. And if someone does it better than me, realistically, that can only be Rin."

"Now you've wounded me, I thought I was your most challenging rival." Nagi arched his brow. At the time, Rin didn't have more than a few junior competitions under his belt.

"Are you kidding? That was like child's play." Isagi said, proceeding to point at the Itoshi kid where he was warming up far from them. "Rin is capable of breaking my ankle. That guy has an impressive thirst for winning, the only possible reason why he doesn't take steroids is 'cause that would get him disqualified. Otherwise, he'd probably do anything if that means gold. You and I are like Yuzuru Hanyu and Nathan Chen. Rin and I? More like Harding and Kerrigan."

"You're such a nerd," Nagi noted, looking away from Rin's figure to Isagi's. The skater was buzzing with energy somehow, like waves that Nagi could feel even when Isagi was so tired. It was admirable, possibly part of the many reasons why Nagi loved spending time with him. "But don't worry, I don't think Rin has to break your leg to beat you, you'll lose as soon as that awful song gets played by the speakers."
