All my life I was told that my dreams would come true. That a handsome prince would save me out of eternal sleep, would go miles and miles just to find me, save me and help me escape from my tower, would accept me, for who I was, as I was. Well didn't really go as planned. All my life I was "nerdy." I had worn glasses ever since I was a baby, I had frizzy blonde hair, and freckles all over my body. Ever since middle school no one really liked me. No boys would even look twice at me, if they look once they would laugh. My twin sister, Delilah who literally shared a face with me would be the one they always looked at. She was different from me. She was a very extroverted person, would talk to everyone at all times, always happy go lucky. She was incredibly sweet and outgoing. I knew that I was weird ever since I was about 3 years old. When my dad would take me and my sister to the neighborhood playground the other kids would say that I was too weird to play with and I should just go play by myself. I guess I was different, I loved painting, Delilah liked drawing too but she preferred sketching and I loved painting. I thought about weird stories in my head, I would make up things about people in my head like if that's how they really were. I was obsessed with conspiracy theories. But their was one thing, I always knew I was "pretty." Adults would always say things like "she's so beautiful" "she's gorgeous" "she's gonna grow up to be a heartbreaker"
Kids would say it behind my back, things like "she's so weird, but she's pretty"
"She's so pretty, too bad she's weird"
They would say this too Delilah too but would leave out the weird part.

I was in my 3rd year of middle school, I walked through the halls, nervously. Hoping people wouldn't laugh behind my back. They would always call me ugly and weird. I walk into the bathroom. Some girls are standing at the mirrors putting on lipstick. I smiled softly at them and they scoffed at me. I just go into the bathroom stall. I could hear their conversation outside the door.
"Yeah, she's so weird!"
"Too bad, Delilah got the good genes!" They all laughed. I just looked down. I was a disgrace! I hear them leave and quickly got out of the stall and look at my self in the mirror. I took off my thick, 2 inch glasses. I had to change. I was determined to be like one of them.

I went to class. It was January, we had barley started the second semester. I sat down in my desk and see the teacher standing with a tall boy. The boy had long brown hair that went to his shoulders. He turns around and faces all the desks. He had scars all on his face. "Class, this is our new student, please treat him with respect and kindness" she said. "I'm William." He said and quickly walked away to sit down. He sits down next to me, I look at him curious. "What are you looking at?" He said with a bit of aggression. I quickly look down at my desk. "That what I thought." He said and sat down in his chair. I glance at him again. Who the heck did he think he was? Ruler of the school?

After school I had went to the book store with Delilah, she was looking at her comic books that she likes and I was looking at fashion magazines. We may have been born with the same face but we were very different people! "Ooh, Delilah, look another one with Destiny Wilson on the cover! I have to add it to my collection!" I said. She wasn't listening, she had her nose lost in one of those stupid superhero comics she liked. I rolled my eyes.

That day I had begged my mom to take me to the mall. After literally getting on my knees she finally agreed. We had went to get skincare, makeup, and basically a new wardrobe. "Mom look at this, isn't it pretty?" I asked as I showed her a dark pink lipstick. "Yeah but you know what isn't pretty? That price, get something cheaper" she replied. I sighed and looked for more cheaper things. My family has always struggled with money. It was because my mom spent it all on her cigarettes and c*caine. I'm not sure when or why she started using drugs but my parents had gotten in so many arguments because of it. Sometimes my mom doesn't even come home for days, no calls and just doesn't come back sometimes for weeks at a time. I wasn't sure why she did this, didn't she care about her kids and husband? One day she had came home after 2 weeks of being gone with no calls or anything. It was late at night, me and Delilah were only 8 years old. I was asleep when I heard Delilah get up and open the door. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, "where are you going?" I asked. She didn't answer so I walked out to follow her. She sat at the top of the stairs which had a view of the front door. My mother came in, her brown hair frizzy and tangled, her blue eyes red. "Where have you been, Makenzie?" My dad asked her. He stood in his black t-shirt and plaid pajama pants, his blonde hair messy. "Oh, Lawrence! What are you doing up at this hour?" She asked, "I was asleep, you were gone for 2 weeks, you had me and the girls worried sick!"
"Oh yeah, where is my baby Delilah?" She asked, "you have 2 daughters!"
"Oh yeah, what's the other ones name? Daniela?"
My father sighed, "just go get to bed, Makenzie" he said and she did as told. Me and Delilah looked at each other. I didn't understand why my dad kept letting her in each time she left. He would always give her another chance no matter what. I guess he really loved her even at her lowest. I just wanted my mom to stop, but I guess I was too young to understand the situation. That was the day me and Delilah promised each other we would never do drugs and always have each others back.

Then it was finally Monday. I was gonna come back to school like a new person! I woke up at 5am just to get ready. I put in contact today instead of my glasses. I followed a makeup tutorial that was in a magazine I had. "Step one, apply foundation with fingers, out and then down to the jawline" I mumbled to myself and then applied a few dots of it on my skin and then blended it with my fingers. Then I followed up with concealer, powder and blush. Then I did eyeshadow, according to the magazine, copper and orange look the best on blue eyes, which I had. I got an orange out of the cheap eyeshadow I got and rubbed it on my eye and then blended it. Then I did my hair, I decided to crimp it, crimping hair was getting really popular right now. Delilah had gotten up now. "What are you doing?" She asked, "what do you mean?" I asked, "you are wearing all that makeup to school?"
"Yes, why not? Misty Allen wears makeup everyday!" She shrugged it off and then went to get dressed. I did too. I was so excited for everyone to see my new look! I wore a cute bright pink sundress. I looked and felt beautiful! I walked in school and I immediately saw everyone's reactions. They looked really surprised but that exactly what I wanted, for them to be surprised. Then Misty Allen and her group of friends walked up to me. "Hey, Diana I love your new look. You should definitely sit with us in class!" She said. Omg yes! "Sure," I replied playing it cool.

In class I sat with all of them. Then class started and I groaned, math. "Yes, you can sit next to Diana, the blonde girl in the back" I heard the teacher say. I jumped and bit, the girls looked at me and giggled. I look and it was that guy with scars on his face and that attitude. I rolled my eyes as he sat next to me. "Hey, you're that nerdy girl from English, right?" He asked, "I am not nerdy!" I argued, "well not anymore, I guess" he replied. Misty passed me a note. I took it and then opened the folded paper, "that is William Gray he used to in juvie" it said. I look over at him, he was kinda cute. My heart fluttered a bit, "what are you looking at?" He said and then I quickly looked away. I smiled, now that I was popular I was gonna make him mind no matter what.
