Part 10: Dread

A few months passed by. It was almost the end of freshman year. The leaves once a mixture of orange and gold were now bright green and flowers began to bloom. Me and Dalton grew more apart, things got awkward after he confessed that he liked me. I felt bad. He liked me but I didn't like him, I feel bad but why would I feel bad for something that I don't feel?
I walk into my English class. William is already sitting in this seat, Dalton behind him. "Hey sorry I didn't make it to the bus stop. Delilah was taking to long getting ready." I said as I take my backpack off and put it on the desk. "It okay." William replied. "She said she was trying to look nice because her new obsession is Nicolas Hudson" I chuckled. Then the teacher walked in. "Good morning class. Please take your seat, Diana" he said. I roll my eyes and do as I was told.

Later during passing period I was talking with the girls, leaned against the lockers. "Omg and I have to tell you guys something!" Holly said, we all leaned in curious of what she had to say, "me and Tyler...did 'it'" she exclaimed. "Omg, Holly!" Misty replied. It was so unnecessary to me. Doing that. I'm not sure though, when I'm with William something I get that weird feeling of wanting to do something like that. But I don't want to. I'll only do it if we are both ready and I want it to be special.
Me and Williams one year anniversary was coming up too. I can't believe we have been dating for 10 months. It feels like just a few weeks ago we got together.

School had ended for summer and I was so excited. All summer was gonna be full of me and my friends hanging out, going to the pool, going to the mall. It was gonna be the best summer ever!

In June we had a pool party at Misty's house. We invited a lot of people from school, "the cool kids."
"So are you excited?!" I asked, Delilah. "Yeah, I think it's gonna be fun!" She replied. We were walking to Misty's house, me, Delilah, and William. The sun was beaming down on us. It was so hot, the perfect weather for a pool party.
We walk into the back gate and everyone was already there having fun. "Diana!" Misty ran up to me and hugged me. "You look so cute!"
"Thanks you too!"
"Oh and Delilah I love your bathing suit!" She said, "thank you, Misty" she replied.

A little later we were all swimming and having fun. We splashed each other, laughed. "Oh I have to reapply sunscreen , don't wanna be sunburned" I said and got out the pool. I walked over to the chairs where my bag was. William was sitting in the chair next to it, his sunglasses on. "You're not swimming?" I asked, "no everyone here sucks" he replied, "woah so rude" I chuckled. I took out the sunscreen and put some everywhere. "Of course that doesn't include you or Delilah."
"Where is Delilah?" I look around all over Misty's backyard. "She's over there talking with Teddy Woods"
Teddy? The most disgusting creepy teenage boy! I quickly walked over there. "Delilah! What do you think you are doing!" I asked, "well Teddy was talking to me about-"
"I don't care what he was talking about it was probably something creepy and perverted!"
I grab Delilah's arm, "if I ever catch you laying eyes on my sister I will do something way way worse than this time!"
I drag Delilah back over to the chairs. "Diana!" She forced her arm out of my grip. "Why did you to that! You were the one that told me to make friends!"
"Not friends with Theodore Woods!"
"Why not!"
"He is literally like the most perverted boy ever! He goes through girls so fast and flirts with every girl he lays eyes on! I'm just trying to protect you" I replied.
"Well it didn't seem like it to me! He was very sweet"
"That's how he gets you Delilah! I'm just trying to protect you"
"I don't need to be protected! You act like I am the most naïve person on the planet and I can't fend for myself! Just because you are a "popular girl" doesn't mean that you have power over me because I am not!"
I didn't know what to say. I thought that I was protecting her. I just didn't want her to get her heart broken. She ran off back over to Teddy. "Omg my worst fear." I mumbled as I sat down on the chair next to William. My worst fear had came true. That my sister would hate me. We were twins, we were supposed to stick together.
I walk back over. I take a deep breathe as Delilah, Teddy and everyone else stares at me. "Delilah I'm sorry. You are totally right I shouldn't act like I have power over you because I don't." I say. "I just don't want us to fall apart." Delilah stands up and puts her arms around me. "We aren't gonna fall apart ever, Diana. Twins are supposed to stick together."

A month later it was the Forth of July. Americas Independence Day but most importantly me and Williams anniversary.
We skipped the fireworks this day and William had taken me out to dinner. Nothing fancy at all, we went to McDonald's.
We sat down and ate our food. "Sorry I couldn't take you anywhere better, my parents said I can either take you here or not go out" he said, "not it's okay. I'm fine with anywhere as long as I stay with you." I replied. "Oh and I have your present" he said as he held up a little box. "Aw Willie!" I exclaimed, "open it, I think you're really gonna like it" he said. I opened it. It was a necklace, with 2 pendents on it. A circle with a tiny little river on it and a firework. "Oh Willie is so pretty." I said, "yeah, the river because it was the place we first kissed and the firework because it was where we got together." He replied. I put the necklace on, "how does it look?" I asked, "even more beautiful now that you're wearing it" he replied. "You're so cheesy!" I laughed, "I'm never gonna taking it off now! I'm gonna wear it everyday!" I exclaimed. He chuckled. "Here's your present!" I said as I held up the box. He opened the little box. It was a wallet with a painting of a river on it. "It's nice but it's funny you assume I carry money"
I laughed, "it's a painting of a river just like our river. It's a painting by Frits Thaulow"
He chuckled, "you are only smart when it comes to painting huh?"
I chuckled, "yeah mostly."

After we had to say goodbye. I held onto Willie not wanting to let go. "Diana you have to go in your house" he said, "no" I replied. "I'll see you tomorrow okay?" He said and then kissed me. "Oh alright. I love you."
"I love you too." He said and then walked down disappearing down the sidewalk.
