My footsteps were heard across the hallways of this place. I may was in a palace, maybe in a mansion.
It was all painted in the colours of deep red and gold. And here I thought that Vespertite's exile...excuse me, MY exile, was something depressing.
Guess father still had something in him. Well, no one can do anything about it now. Emphasis on "now."
You see, I'm trying to fix exactly that. So, I'm going to the Sacred Magic Academy. I need to define if I'm in a position of protecting myself, let alone battle someone.
A servant seemed to be waiting for me on the door towards the living room, where I supposedly were to have my breakfast. The living room? Don't the royals have some kind of "breakfast room" or something?
My servants opened the double dark-woodened doors for me, and I entered the room.
OK, I take back whatever I said previously. This is THE Living room. It's probably the size of the entirety of the apartment I was living in my past life. The table was massive; it had all sorts of edibles on it.
Quickly digestible, simple, but still elegant and pretty expensive: that's the life of an aristocrat, the cream of a fantasy's society.
My servants pulled a chair for me, and I sat down on the far end of the table, alone. It looked like it could fit several dozens of people, and yet, I'm the only one who gets to sit here.
I slowly and elegantly spread some extra marmalade to my bread and butter. This was fantastic. It was probably some fruit growing here, on the frozen lands of Gelida. If I remember from my Latin lessons, "Gelida" does mean "frozen" indeed.
"Eat well, Your Highness. Aside from your academic performance, you need to manage your land properly. If only your father could see your potential, he would assign you to one of the 4 Gates."said my personal maid.
If I remember correctly, I saw her one time in the gaming wiki. Her name was...
"Ophelia. The one you're referring to is the Emperor. 'His Highness'. It doesn't matter how well he treated me. The Emperor is a father to us all. We ought to respect him."I scolded her.
But, Ophelia, my maid, answered me: "If one is a father for all, but not a father to their children...that's worse than not even having parents."
I finished my breakfast, putting my fork and butter knife down.
"I cannot argue with that. But that's not an Emperor, you're referring to. That's a politician."I said.
"A...what? What's that, my Lady?"she said, confused, tilting her head cutely on the left side.
"Oh, it's nothing, don't worry about it." And that's how I singlehandedly protected my father and everyone's autocrat from having their power seized from them, in probably a frenzy, like the French revolution.
Remember, Vespertite, you're a royal. An aristocrat. I don't want my head on a pike, thank you very much.
I stood up from my chair as Ophelia moved it for me. I walked outside of the antique living room and went into the central hallway. I descended some stairs, trusting my instinct that this led down to the exit.
Fortunately, I'm was right; a huge gate stood at the end of the Royal Hall, with two staircases next to each other. I just stood there, mesmerised by the whole area. It looked like a proper palace.
As soon as my right foot touched the ground, the medieval armour, which was put there as a decorative, it moved, and the soldiers saluted me, shouting.
Their short, unintelligible, unsynchronised shouts were heard in the entirety of the room. Hey, I could get used to this!
I smiled a little. A servant handed me what looked like my schoolbag: a suitcase from the finest leather, as it seemed.
