Dammit! I died! Again! This game is literally draining my lifespan!

I spread my arms around to stretch and moved myself on the edge of my gaming chair's seat.

Yeah, this is me, a high school student. I booted up my PC some hours earlier, at the dead of night, so that I can play my favourite JRPG, "Imperial Crown." I have the role of the "Knight-protector" in this story: basically, I'm helping the Crown Princess in whatever she needs so that I can complete her route.

And by completing her route, I mean doing the "True Ending" of the game, where the Knight and the Princess ultimately end up together in a spectacular and hilarious fashion at the end of the game.

Do not be mistaken, I'm not doing this because I like the romance and chemistry the two exhibit, I just want to be one of the first people to pass that stage.

To advance and unlock the Crown Princesses' story, you need to battle her twin sister: the Villainess of the game. She's not so bad, really. But she's on the wrong side of the road, if you get what I mean.

Anyway, this Villainess, only a handful of people have beaten her. To put it into a perspective, imagine your average final "FromSoftware" game boss, and crank the difficulty up a little.

The girl has 10 (!) phases. Not one, not two, not when freaking five, but goddamn ten of them! At one point, she just destroys the Cathedral with an [X] grade magic attack, but then, she just begins to annihilate whatever is in her way.

I shit you not. She is so powerful that only TWO PLAYERS have actually managed to beat her. I can literally count them in one hand!

I pulled my blond hair from my scalp and closed my deep blue eyes. This is a nightmare. I noticed my Death Count on the corner: nine thousand, three hundred, and thirty-four.

Honestly, I couldn't do this anymore. I took a sip from my coffee; it was entirely useless. I don't drink coffee, I regularly drink tea, but with her, I started to do just that. It helps me be on edge and calm my nerves a little. Well, these last few days, I feel it isn't really working out for me. Coffee, I mean. Oh, and the Villainess.

I got tired, so I just let the death screen be there for as long as I kept my eyes shut.

I just need a break, and then I can fight all I want. Just to catch my breath. Just...that.

At some points, I just couldn't open my eyes. I forcibly tried to, but I was too tired to even think. Let alone move. Yeah, you know what, I'll just rest for tomorrow. I have a date tomorrow, and I can't let my partner see me with darkened eyes from the exhaustion.

At some point, I felt like I had drifted to sleep. But, i remained lucid. Conscious. I tried to open my eyes, but I just couldn't. And this wasn't because of my physical exhaustion. It was that I couldn't. I was just unable to even blink.

At first, I thought I had just engaged in a Sleep Paralysis Incident, or the action of being paralysed after sleeping due to extreme stress or exhaustion. But it just wasn't that.

I'm generally not a person who succumbs to extreme stress, neither to exhaustion. And, if it was Sleep Paralysis, where is this infamous demon that everyone talks about?

I'm starting to think I'm just dreaming or something. So, i just relaxed and let myself sleep once again, forgetting everything.

And then...a beam of light shined from the other side of my closed eyes. I felt myself move. Was it my mum? Maybe my brother.

But, it wasn't that. Something felt unfamiliar in the steps of the person. And the light...it was pure white. What in the hell...it's the middle of summer. There is no way the day outside is cloudy. The Rain Season of Summer came to pass just some weeks before.
