I shake my head waking me up from my day dream. I wonder how long it will take to forget that night? Will I ever?

"Bye." I call as I clamber out of the door. My brother Josh nods as he revs the engine of his sleek new silver car. I swing my heavy bag over my shoulder and slam the door, getting the message that he needs to go. Josh gives me a ride in the mornings on his way to college, he's 18, but I normally walk back home afterwards.

I stride towards the gates, the school is bubbling with chat and laughter. I wander towards the football field where I know all my friends are. As soon as I walk up past the closed shop in the stands I see my two girlfriends, Leah and Charlotte lounging on the plastic seats. I walk towards them pulling my blazer tighter so it hugs my small frame.

"Ella!" Leah screeches grabbing my hand and pulling me into the seat next to her. "How was your weekend? You weren't at the skate park?" We normally hang out there in our spare time, there's a football pitch, a cafe and ramps to skate on.

"Yeah, sorry about that went to Grans. We played chess like the whole time."
Charlotte and Leah groan empathetically. They both know about my grans addiction to chess. I glance out onto the field where my best friend Adam and his teammates are kicking a ball around their ties loose around their neck and their white shirts hanging out. I pull my black knee socks slightly higher, so they're covering half my knee.

"Oi Gabs, get down here!" I hear a familiar shout down from the field. Only one person calls me that. Adam. I glance at him he's holding the ball up with one hand beckoning me. Great, time for a lesson. I grumble. I stand up running down the steps onto the muddy field. My shoes getting soaked. Once down onto the pitch I hug him, his familiar smell surrounding me. Adam. "Ready to score some goals?"

"Adam, you know I'm hopeless. You've been trying to teach me for a few months and I have never scored a goal!"

"Are you giving up Gabriella Matthews? Practice makes perfect." He exclaims shaking my shoulders with one hand. I giggle, trying to push him away. When he releases me I jump up and grab the ball getting a head start. I chase after the black and white sphere, kicking it with my feet, the way Adam showed me. I near the goal posts aware of Adams footsteps behind me and Leah and Charlotte's cheers.

Lining up to the goal I bring my foot back and kick the ball into the goal. it bounces off the post and into the net. I do my celebration dance moving my hips as I dance. Charlotte and Leah run up to me!

"And she scores the final goal and the crowd goes wild!" Charlotte screams waving her hands in the air, she looks mad, her dark brown curly hair flying in the wind.

Suddenly my feet are lifted from the floor and I'm being spun around on Adams shoulders. God he's strong. I raise my right hand and squeal as he spins me round, giggling. I hear calls from the entrance. Adam stops spinning and goes rigid. still on his shoulders I follow his gaze. Its a gang of boys from the football team. I inwardly cringe. One of the boys catches my eye, he has sparkling blue eyes and beach blond hair with a quiff. He smirks at me. I recognise him from around school and the pitch. Who doesn't know him? Who doesn't know all of them? It's flipping Luke Moore! Luke Moore. I avert my eyes quickly. To stop the temptation of looking back to see if Luke is still looking at me I glance at Leah and Charlotte who are shooting each confused glares. Adam's teammates have formed a formation behind him, it looks as if they're ready to attack at any moment.

"What do you want?" Adam demands icily.

"Brr. Lay off. We just came here to play." Kyle, the football captain replies, smoothing his black hair back.

"Yeah well we're going now so the pitch is all yours." Adam gestures to the field with his arm. Without warning he grabs my legs and slips me off his shoulders. I bend my knees as I land, wincing as I hit the floor. I link arms with Leah as we walk out of the pitch. I can sense the tension in the group.
As I pass Luke he brushes his hand across my hip. My stomach does a flip. What Gabriella Matthews was that? I stop and stare at him for a split second. Red flushes to my cheeks, I look down at the floor and quickly follow Adam.
"Hey, you ok?" I ask catching up with Adam.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Those guys are just jerks and i don't want to spend any extra time with them than I have to on the pitch!"

"Alright, chill I just asked." I exclaimed.

"I'm sorry." he apologises grabbing my hand as we walk to tutor.

"So you promise me that you'll be at my game on Friday? It's home."

"Don't I always come?" He nods his head.

"Oh and you'll get me a milkshake for afterwards?"

"God Adam, it's like dropping a little kid at preschool. Yea I will as I usually do and afterwards I promise I will come to the skate park."

"Thank you, you're the best." He says grabbing my hand and swinging it.

"Yeah yeah I know! You're lucky I love you Adam Taylor!" I tease.

"Love you too Gabs!" Me and Adam have been best friends since we were tiny, we're practically brother and sister. We've always gone to the same school, Although I have my girlfriends and he has his mates, we are almost inseparable and that's how I want it to stay.
