For the past hour, we've been learning choreography but it's not complex. Thank God because I wouldn't be able to keep up. But it is sultry. The movements aren't too extreme though. Maya put most of it together last night, and she made sure it was a balanced routine.
I like it a lot, but my main issue is remembering the moves and the transitions. But the more we practice the better we'll get.
We have a little over an hour before KJ makes his entrance so we decide to take a break from dancing. We put everything back to where it was before getting comfortable.
"I know everybody's heard about the competition being moved downtown, right?" Kiara asks as she plops on the floor while Maya and I take seats on the sofa.
"Yep."
"I heard."
Maya and I answer.
"Apollo made the announcement this morning. It makes sense." Kiara says but she's now scrolling through her phone, intent on finding whatever she's looking for.
"So we should probably try to write some more songs." I suggest, not wanting the conversation to start focusing on a not so pleasant topic.
"KJ sent you a couple of beats so maybe we can start from there." Maya responds.
Kiara nods, but her eyes are still glued to her phone.
I grab my phone to pull up all the beats KJ sent me. We start cycling through the beats, trying to decide which one we like best. Every single beat is catchy and I can hear melodies forming in my mind when I hear each one, making it hard to choose.
"Before we do that, let's do this." Kiara, extends her phone to me.
It's inches away from my face. On the screen is a QuickPic post. It reads,
Join in on the #MyDreamsChallenge. Write a verse to my single "My Dreams" and tag me. I'll post some of the best verses on my page.
Once you swipe over, there's Apollo on the screen. He begins lip-synching to the song but then after the chorus there are no more lyrics, just the beat playing. I pass the phone to Maya so that she can take a look. She reads the post and nods her head in agreement.
"My Dreams" has been on repeat for the past day. The song was just released and everyone is anticipating the video. Writing a verse to this song should be fairly easy. I know all of the lyrics to the original. So creating a verse that fits with the song should be no problem.
"Well since Halo wrote us that great song, maybe you can write a verse for us to sing to." Kiara clasps her hands together and brings them to her chin in a begging gesture.
"Okay, cool." I grin.
I don't mind at all. I've always loved writing and ever since we formed this little group, I write even more. I try to jot down every thing because anything can be an inspiration.
The empty verse is for the first verse. The song is all about the sexual attraction between two people. The attraction is so strong that you can't help but to dream about this person. I don't have much experience in the subject but I'm a huge daydreamer.
Apollo's lyrics are,
Can you believe it?
I want your touch more than you know.
I wanna keep this
Between us, keep it on the low
Let's meet next weekend.
You can pick where you wanna go.
Don't gotta pretend
Cause we both know what we know
I can't promise you the world but you can have me till the sunrise, until the sun shines
No, I can't make you my girl.
I see the lust in your eyes.
They never tell lies.
Chorus:
I hear you talking to me
Your breath all on my skin
I see you in my dreams
You're watching
You're haunting me, haunting me
I don't know what it means
You, haunting me in my sleep
I see you in my dreams
You're watching
You're haunting me, haunting me
