Saturday has started off pretty calmly. Maya and I are spending the day shopping. We've decided that we are going to go to the foam party, which means we need new swimsuits.
Foam parties always have this pit that's filled with bubbles. You're sure to get wet. You dance and have fun. I didn't know what it meant at first but Maya told me.
KJ knows we're going and has offered to drive us there. I don't mind. I'm looking forward to the party even though it feels like I'm having an out of body experience. I don't go to parties. I don't dance. I don't drink. But I guess I will tonight. I might end up looking stupid, but Maya really wants to go.
"This is gonna be our first college party. We're gonna remember this forever."
Maya's words echo in my head. I hope we remember it for good reasons. Not because I did something embarrassing. I really hope I don't have a nip slip. That memory would follow me around for the rest of my life. I have to make sure whatever I wear is secure. What else could go wrong?
Going to a college party was something I wanted to do once I got here but now that it's happening sooner than I thought, I'm a little wary. But I know Maya isn't going to let me back out of this.
First we go to Walmart. Maya needs snacks. Then we head to the Ansa Hills Metro Mall. We stop by a few places, hoping to find a swimsuit. Summer's going to be over soon so most of the swimsuits are gone or either on sale. And the one's on sale are not that cute so we're having a little trouble.
I do find a cover up. It's black sheer pants. They're really flowy. Maya finds a cream colored, long crochet dress to wear. Still no swimsuit. My feet are starting to hurt from all this walking. I'm about to give up and just wear a crop top or a halter top. Who's going to know?
We end up settling on one final store before we leave. It's a tiny shop that doesn't look like it has much business. The store almost looks like it's hiding. We barely notice it. I think that's the case for a lot of people because it's empty. There are no customers around. It's just us now. I don't have much faith in this store, but Maya insists. To my surprise, we spot just what we need on a shelf towards the back of the store. I pick out a pink two piece. The top resembles a crop top t-shirt. The bottoms match and the straps on the side are a little thin but my ass is covered so I'm fine. Maya chooses a red one piece that has a zipper in the front.
We're going to look good tonight.
It's now time to leave and take a little tour of the campus. Kiara said she would take us to each building that our classes are in. She'll show us how to get there from our building. I probably won't drive to each class unless it's raining anyways.
Once we're back on campus, we end up walking around for about two hours. I'm not tired at all. It was kind of refreshing. We went to so many buildings. Maya and I now know where all of our classes are. We went to the library, the cafe, the coffee shop, Chick-fil-A, and the mailing center amongst so many others. We also spent a lot of time just talking. Maya spent a lot of her time flirting. I was taking everything in because it's such a nice day.
"What did you two pick out to wear tonight?" Kiara asks once Maya is done giving her number to some football player.
"I'm wearing a two piece black set with some denim shorts."
Before either of us can reply, Kiara speaks again.
"Can I hang at your dorm today? KJ's gonna be in the studio all day."
"Yeah."
"Sure."
Maya and I answer simultaneously.
I like Kiara. She's sweet. And plus, I know how KJ can get when he's making music. I wouldn't want to be around him either.
