I know I said the first day is always boring.
I take it back.
I went to all of my classes and I have determined that based on the first day, I like all of my professors. Professor Warren means business. She's not the friendliest person, but those are the teachers I like the most. But then there's the professors who want to be college students themselves. That's how my professor for Statistical Methods is. He has to be 50. He's very handsome with a head full of gray hair. He's a little too friendly for me. I was trying not to side eye him the whole 50 minutes.
My art appreciation teacher graduated from this same college two years ago. She's fun, nice, and very charismatic.
After I'm done with art appreciation, the class Maya and I have together, we walk to the bookstore so that we can pick up a few supplies. I need to get my microeconomics book, and Maya wants to get a calculator. Once that's done, we walk to the cafe. That's when everything gets weird.
As soon as we enter, there's a station that separates the entranceway from the dining area. We have to show our student IDs or pay cash if we don't have a meal plan. When you pass the front station, it looks like your typical cafe. There's circular tables everywhere surrounded by six to eight chairs. We walk around the entire cafe to see what all they had.
There's a salad bar that's in the middle. There's two areas that are sectioned off and that's where you put your trays when you're done eating. Towards the back is where the hot food is. Today there's different types of pasta: my favorite. There's spaghetti, lasagna, and Alfredo. There's garlic knots and bread, cheesy bread, string beans, and mixed fruit. I decide to have lasagna, and of course I grab every side item that I can. Maya chooses spaghetti and grabs whatever can fit on her tray as well. Lastly, we get our drinks from the fountain machine.
There's an empty table right by this huge window to the right. But it is lunchtime so our table isn't empty for long. Three other people ask if they can sit with us, and we say yes. It's two girls and one guy. Apparently we met at the party.
Maya and I look at each other confused. Were we that drunk?
But we keep talking, wanting them to describe the encounter.
"Me and Drew met you guys outside of the bathroom. We only talked for about a minute but you guys seemed cool. I'm Brittany by the way." The curly head blonde girl rambles.
I look beside her and see that the biracial girl must be Drew. The guy hasn't spoken much. From what I can tell, he's in a relationship with Drew. He probably was dragged over here. He doesn't care about this girl talk which is understandable. We talk to them for a while and find out that Drew and Brittany are sophomores. So is Drew's boyfriend, which I now know that his name is also Drew. Funny, huh?
This all sounds like normal college stuff, right?
Yeah, it is. Or it was, up until this strange altercation during lunch. And of course, it's all about Frizzy. Her roommates begin arguing. The whole entire cafe can hear them. They're going on and on about how something is the other's fault.
"You should've been more responsible."
"You're a bad friend."Blah blah blah.
I'm thinking it's just some ordinary girl drama so I ignore it. Everyone argues, but no one argues like women. And here they are. Two women arguing over loyalty, friendship, and trust. It seems normal. Even though they could've had the conversation in private. I mean they are roommates after all. They're going to see each other later.
When Maya and I finally make our way back to our room and plop our butts onto our sofas, I see that there's an email that has been sent out to all of the students.
