Love's a Weird Thing

Late to Work

Nikki pulls into her parking spot as it starts heavily raining.
"Shit, now it's raining." Nikki sighs, bashing her hands down on the steering wheel.
"Well if we are quick, we can rush out and rush in making sure we don't get drenched." Jack chuckles.

"Okay, on the count of 3, we open the doors and rush out, yeah." Nikki suggests and Jack nods in response.
"Okay, 3...2...1." Nikki counts.

As quick as they could, they both burst open the car doors and sprinted across the car park. Nikki squeals as the rain came down hard on her so Jack takes takes off his coat and shelters both him and Nikki with it.

They make it to the doors and burst in. They stop and pant to catch their breath.
"We made it." Nikki pants, breathless "We are soaked but at least we made it." She looks at her phone and it reads 9:15am. "Shit, 15 minutes late though." She continues.

They walk to the lift and calls it down. They walk in the lift and click the floor they're on.

"Thomas ain't gonna be much happy. Us waking into work 15 minutes late." Nikki says.
"Nah, I'm sure he will make us make up for it." Jack snorts.

The lift stops on their floor and they both stroll out. They beep their keycard on the keyboard reader, opens the door and was greeted with an angry looking Thomas.

"Where the hell have you been!" Thomas exclaims.
"Probably fucking each other." Clarissa mutters under her breath, loud enough for Nikki and Jack to hear.

Nikki and Jack stare at Clarissa with their mouths open in shock and bewilderment.
"What?" Thomas queries.
"Nothing!" Nikki and Jack lies in unison, shooting a death stare at Clarissa as if to say shut it.
"Nothing." Clarissa smirks, nodding at Nikki and Jack.

"Sorry, Thomas. Traffic then the sudden rainfall." Nikki stutters in response.
"As you can see we are a wee bit soaked." Jack laughs.

"Well I'mma let you off this time but if you guys are late again, there will be consequences." Thomas shugs it off, walks to his office and closes the glass door behind him. Nikki and Jack walk to their desks, sits down and let out a sigh of relief.

"You're gonna have to tell at some point you know. I know bout you two so why can't he?" Clarissa objects.
"We only become official last night!" Nikki argues, "And anyways, you guessed and we just didn't answer."

Clarissa stares back and forth between Nikki and Jack. She narrows her eyes at Nikki.

Nikki sighs "Look we will talk to him later about it, okay." She looks over at Jack for an answer.
"Yeah, we will." Jack repeats, looking back at Nikki.
