Love's a Weird Thing

Confession

*Later that day*

Nikki walks to Thomas's office and knocks on the glass door. Thomas gestures his hand to come in.

"What can I do for you, Nikki?" Thomas quizzes.
"Can me and Jack talk to you for a second, please." She responses.
"Sure." He looks at his watch, "I have about 15 minutes till I need to be somewhere, though. So it will have to be quick."

"It should only take about 5 minutes." Nikki reassures, while gesturing Jack to come over. He gets up from his desk and walks over to Nikki.

Both Nikki and Jack walk into Thomas's office and Nikki closes the door behind them.

Clarissa peers over her computer and watches the conversation through the office window, trying to be as discrete as possible.

"So what is it that you wanna talk about?" Thomas asks again as Nikki and Jack exchange scared looks.

"How will Thomas react? Will he be happy or angry?" Nikki's thoughts whizzed through her mind as she prepared herself for what she was gonna say. But before she could Jack opens his mouth, about to speak.

"Well..." Jack starts as he can see the worried look on Nikki's face.

"Well," Nikki interrupts, "Me and Jack are dating and have been for a while, but we only made it official last night." She finds herself blurring out more than she should.

Thomas just stares at them lost for words.
"Well, that's not what I was expecting you to say." He finally says.

"God you're mad aren't you. He's mad, isn't he, Jack." Nikki panics, turning to look at Jack, searching his face for an answer.

Jack pulls her into a tight hug, then let's go, remembering where he was.

Nikki turns back to Thomas who just sat there with a smile on his face.
"Why would I be mad." Thomas laughs, making Nikki shy away with embarrassment.

"I'm actually quite happy for you guys." He admits. "You didn't need to be scared to tell me you know."

Nikki and Jack let out a small chuckle of embarrassment before sighing with relief.

"I'm so glad you're fine with this Thomas, thank you." Nikki thanks.
"My pleasure, now I really have to get going or I'll be late." Thomas hurrys out, as Jack holds the door open for him.

"Thanks, Jack." He thanks as he walks out of the office and towards the lift.

"See nothing to worry about, aye. He's fine with it. Now c'mom let's get back to working before has a real reason to be mad at us." Jack chuckles, taking Nikki around the waist and walks out the office.

Clarissa quickly ducks back down to her computer, trying not to get caught as Nikki and Jack return back to their desk.

"So how did it go?" Clarissa probes.
"Smoother than I thought it would." Nikki smiles, looking over her computer to Jack on the other side of their desk, lovingly.

"So he's okay with it, then?" Clarissa continues.
"He's more okay with it." Jack returns the smile back to Nikki, staring deep into her loving gaze.
Clarissa smirks and goes back to working on her computer.

Nikki and Jack continues back on solving on a case they have been working on for a couple of weeks now.
