PROLOGUE
My deep red velvet pumps scuffed on the pavement as I walked home. Exhaustion filled my body and I was grateful to see my house on the edge of the curb. I didn't like it when I didn't take care of my things. I always were the one to make sure that my things stayed as neat as I found them. I walked a little faster and saw a silhouette of a man leaning against a lamp pole. A big built man and taller than the average man. He must be lost or a tourist venturing through the streets and taking a break. Something perhaps. I just want to get home and wash off the fear I have.
The party wasn't worthwhile. Too much clingy and touching men surrounded me tonight and I swore to myself that it was the last time I went to one. Loud music and the stench of alcohol didn't pull me anymore. I need to focus on my life now, my future. I told Lorinda as well, she just shrugged it off. I know she would convince me again. I will put my foot down and stand against the sinful idea.
The light was flickering and made it uneasy to see who it was. I walked a bit faster, but I was extremely tired after the party. I should have gotten someone to walk me home.
It was a waxing crescent moon tonight and pitch black. Most of the street lights were out and only the one above the man flickered. My nerves were rising simultaneously as my heart beat sped up. Just a bit further before I reach home and then I'm safe.
I hugged myself and walked even faster. My pumps would be ruined tomorrow, but I would rather be safe and buy new ones then being raped or murdered. I shivered at the thought and kept my eyes on him.
He won't do anything to me. As long as I don't make eye contact.
I was two houses away from my own. He was standing with his back towards me. He was probably drunk and can't remember where his house was. I walked a little bit faster - almost running. I looked back up at him. There was no one! No person leaning on the lamp pole. I spun around and saw nothing but the empty street. I kept on walking, still cautious.
My mind was playing tricks on me. I knew I shouldn't have swallowed that last drink from Lorinda. I gazed back to the street, still no one. I bowed my head and looked at my sad shoes. Such a terrible thing to have scuffed shoes. To the trash can for them.
A crash to the floor - shaking the entire neighbourhood, he stood in front of me. He towered over me, showing dominance, wanting my submission. My mouth parted open at the fear I felt within. His deep brown hair blew slightly in the warm summer wind. Blood red eyes returned my gaze. Thirst filled his eyes with amusement crashing down a bit of the need. Shock hammered in my chest. I couldn't move... I couldn't scream... I couldn't do anything...
My ragged breath came through my slightly parted mouth. I took a tiny step back. No one would come to my salvation. The paleness off the man in front of me took another toll on my nerves. He was lean and his beauty shocking. I looked up to his face. His tallness awoke a rush in me together with his broad shoulders and tight, very tight fitted shirt. A strong jawline ripped at his neck, beyond sharp for an easy kill. His mouth open and two white fangs flicked out. I didn't notice him pulling me closer to him by my waist. Electricity detonated where he touched. He was holding me like a fragile doll before he kissed my neck. The feeling of his cold lips to my warm skin, made me catch a breath. My eyes closed at the first impact his cold lips touched my soft skin. It was the feeling of drinking a strong elixir and there was absolutely no turning point. This man was handsome. I wouldn't mind if his hands took a stroll over my body. His strong scent caressed my nose and I kept on smelling him, it was intoxicating. I whimpered as he licked the sensitive spot before he bit down real hard. Causing excruciating pain.
At first it was painful, but after several seconds it became ... pleasant? I was drugged. My skin burnt and sent sensuous messages to every part of my body. My eyes closed again. I could feel him sucking my blood with his soft lips lingering in my neck. If I die tonight, I die in the hands of a handsome man.
