- Three years later –
I am not being very lady like at the moment. I said to myself. If my mother caught me now, I wouldn’t hear the end of it for the rest of my life. Just like the damn sword tattoo! I bent my body uncomfortably over the centre console of the car and reached for the thousands of satchels.
The PSD (post shopping depression) already ate me up from within. There’s no need to delve right back in again and die a death of beauty depression. All right! I was bad! Just look at it like this : My wardrobe desperately needed a few new articles. More than a few. It needed a whole new look, with new shoes, new clothes, new accessories and new make –up. MAC, by the way. A girls got to buy what a girls got to buy in a time of need.
I ended up by standing on my knees, on the driver’s seat, rummaging the bags from behind like a wild beast. Oh, how stupid I must look right now! I don’t care, at the moment, I’m tired and I need to remove this Loubitons from my aching feet. It’s painful to be beautiful. I once again said to myself. It doesn’t have to hurt all the time. As long as no one sees you bare feet.
After dragging the bags to the front of the car and then placing them, carefully, on the ground next to the car. I moved backwards out of my Volvo, placing one foot on the ground, carefully, without chipping my new Loubitons. I got this car for my twentieth birthday. I have it now for a year and I finally know what the cars name is. Volvo.
I threw my laptop bag over my shoulder and a few bags over the other and carried the remaining bags in my free hands. The car beeped and I headed for the front door.
I didn’t remember to leave the outdoor lights on this morning! Again!
I feel – feel climbed the stairs up to the front door.
To hell with these shoes! I slipped them off after I set down all the bags. The bunch of keys revealed a golden key which twinkled in the moonlight along with my new manicure. The glitter pink nail polish shown millions of tiny sparkling stars on my nails. The manicure is newly done at Pandora’s emporium. Incredible with it, ordinary without. The motto of her shop will stay in my head forever.
I turned the knob and stared into complete darkness. I seriously need to stop freaking myself out. I switched the light on.
A thousand eyes stared back at me. All of them had the same face expression.
“Surprize!” They all yelled and blew on tubes that released colourful paper, sounds and millions of confetti blustering at me in harmony.
My heart beat in my through. It could have jumped through my open mouth at any moment.
There I stood, open mouthed, surprized and bare feet. As long as nobody sees your bare feet. Perfect.
“Good evening, my wonderful wife.” Chris said when he appeared next to me. I married at the age of nineteen. Chris came into my life when we met at varsity. He has been very good to me and I won’t trade him for anything. He made me forget about Darius. That’s his problem. A week extended into three years. Now, I love my Husband.
“You look shocked.” He pulled me in for a hug. He wore his new T-shirt I bought him. The dark blue brings out his eyes.
“I told you no parties.” I said and hugged him. He smiled his sweet smile. “Thank you.” I said and he kissed me.
The whole crowd made “awwh” sound and laughed.
“I must look like a complete wreck.” I said and looked down at my bare feet. At least my pedi cure is also taken care of.
“Just like Cinderella when midnight was over. Just my Cinderella as well.” He said and smiled. His smile always turns my knees to jelly. Over and over again.
