Rose's POV
It had been two months since the Wild Life album premiered and we were still giddy with excitement. "Babe, c'mon I need to go to the studio. Wanna come with?" Yes, Jack Gilinsky and I were an item. "Go ahead. I'll meet you there." He grabbed my waist and gave me a quick kiss.
I skipped into my room to pick out an outfit. Today, I was wearing a pair of high waisted jean shorts with white lace at the bottom, and a flowy white shirt. I paired it with my trusty converse.
"WAKE UP UGLY HAG!" I yelled at Mac. Our mornings typically consisted of me jumping on her bed and her flicking me off. This was another one of those mornings. "Mac, I am going to the studio with Jack." She groaned in protest. "I'll make you breakfast when I get home." She smiled and pulled me back onto the bed. "I miss you. It seems like all you do now is hang out with your boyfriend." She squeezed my hand as the painful words escaped her mouth. "I know. Everything has just been so busy-" I tried to reply but she interrupted me. "No, Rose. You can't use these excuses." She stormed out of her room and I was left sitting alone on her memory foam bed.
Making my way downstairs, I grabbed a hair tie and my keys. I hopped into my car and drove to McDonalds. "I would like a medium vanilla iced coffee please!" I ordered. I pulled up to the window and was greeted with four people standing there. "Do you sign autographs?" A girl with dirty blonde hair asked. "Sure!!" I said. Wow, this was pretty exciting. I signed everyone's papers and added my number to the blonde's sheet. I could tell there was something special about her.
I pulled up to the studio and walked into room 418 to see Jack singing to himself. God, he was such a cutie. I saw a dozen roses on the stool next to him. I opened the door and was greeted with a kiss. "Rose, I want to hear you sing." My face flushed at his idea. Mac always told me I could sing but not in front of my boyfriend.
"Um okay?" I replied. He grabbed my hand and started singing my favorite song - Love me Like You Do. As we got through the chorus, he smiled at me I mentally took a picture of his left dimple and how his eyes smiled when he looked at me.
Once we finished the song, he twirled me around and asked "Was that good?" We got several thumbs ups from outside the recording studio. "Jack!" I protested in disbelief that he actually got people to record our duet. He kissed me and I felt his smile on my lips.
It was past time for us to leave the studio and go home. I dropped him off at our house and decided to head to McDonalds. I drove up to the drive-thru window and saw the familiar face I had been hoping for. "Nice to see you again, Rose!" She exclaimed. "Hi! Can I come in?" She nodded and I parked my car. I walked into the restaurant and she was waiting there with a large order of fries. Ever since I had moved here, I always went to McD's for coffee. And she was always there throwing out a "Have a blessed morning!" before my car was fully out of the parking lot. "My name is Dawn." She said. We talked for a bit before I asked her to sleepover. I wrote my address on a napkin and she promised to meet me at 9. I made my bed and dragged an extra mattress into my room for Dawn to sleep on.
"What a slut! Sleeping with her own boyfriend!" A nasty remark was thrown at me from my supposedly best friend. "Actually, you would be surprised to know that Jack is sleeping in his normal spot and I am having one of my friends sleepover. She is a girl." I smirked and continued to pull the mattress into my room.
The doorbell rang and I saw Mac come out of her room to answer it. "It's for me." I stated. I threw open the door and gave Dawn a hug. This wasn't a ploy to get Mac jealous, that was just a plus.
We settled down around 1 after Jack had said goodnight to me and Dawn had sighed. "I wish I had a boyfriend like you." As far as I knew, I told her, Jack Johnson wasn't dating Mac. Her smile lit up and she seemed happier already. "Not that I need a boyfriend," She has stammered. "I am perfectly satisfied single." I laughed at her trying to justify her reason for wanting a boyfriend.
At three in the morning, we had decided that going skinny dipping was a priority. She borrowed a long t-shirt and a towel and we headed to the beach. It was even more enchanting at night then during day. The moon was glinting off the surface of the water and the sand was white with seashells scattered in various places. Wow, I was living the dream. We dropped the towels on the pier and made sure no one was around before ripping off our shirts and dashing to the end of the boardwalk before breaking the surface of the water.
She let out a screech, as did I, when our naked bodies hit the cold, salty water. We swam around for a while before we decided it was too cold and too early to continue this. When we ambled out of the water toward our clothes, the door on Mac's balcony opened. Dawn and I stopped laughing all at once as Mac spotted us.
We walked back to the house in silence and the next time we looked up at the balcony, it was closed. "Don't worry," I reassured my new friend. "She's just grumpy." We giggled at my choice of words and once again, we were the silly friends that seemed like we had know each other for our whole lives. We took fast showers and fell asleep as quickly as we had become friends.
