"Lucius Ericks. The vampire who made Aether.
The softly spoken words lingered within Amaris' mind for a few more minutes. How the hell did he say it so casually? That he had infected a likely innocent human with vampirism? And more than that, how had such a compassionate man created such a cruel creature? And if Lucius was a compassionate man, why had he done so in the first place? Had he been played with by this vampire, had he put on a facade to manipulate Amaris?
"...I don't think I understand. You infected him? But why...how.. you're so kind!" Amaris exclaimed, tilting his head in very obvious confusion.
"Do you think that just because I've turned someone, it makes me cruel? Do you honestly believe that all vampires turn someone for their own sick pleasure they receive from tormenting the poor souls?" Lucius narrowed his eyes. "That may have been what happened to you, and I do apologize. But it's only the case sometimes. And I can assure you, Aether was not imitating the way I turned him when he did that to you. I can tell you the story, if you wish?"
Well, knowing the circumstances would certainly be helpful. And Amaris was curious about it anyways, he knew that the desire to know would gnaw at him until he knew if he refused the story. "Yes, please sir. Do educate me on these matters."
"Ah, well then. Let's begin. I believe it happened was sometime in the 18th century. I was working as a doctor, my second year as one. I remember how happy I was to be helping the sick..lovely times. Anyways, I wasn't born a vampire. I was made, just as Aether was, which I'm going to explain to you as well."
Amaris simply nodded in response, not feeling the need to ask any kind of question or say anything yet. The other male paused before continuing on.
"I had a patient. A kind man, seemed to be a few years older than me. Either in his late twenties or early thirties, just like you. Oh, he came in claiming he was sick, though we found nothing wrong with him at all. He was perfectly healthy. He did come back afterwards, for some reason. He would always visit with me when he did, and I admit I started...to catch feelings for him. And I thought he felt the same way. In fact, he claimed he did."
Amaris didn't believe that homosexuality and things such as the matter were godly or pure in the slightest. However, he could not judge the man in front of him for it. He had his own issues that pertained to the topic. And besides, it wasn't even on topic for the moment. "So.. he didn't love you?"
"I believed he did. But he was just getting closer to me for the sake of something else, his own impure desire. He happened to be infected with vampirism.."
Having been assuming so the whole story, the former priest nodded. "So I thought. He infected you?"
"He came to my office one day while I was on the job. At this time, I hadn't seen him for about a week. He claimed that he was ill and needed treatment immediately. I believed him, of course; we were good friends at the time and he was visiting me every one or two days. Going a whole week without us visiting with each other was unheard of. So I sat him down and was getting my tools to examine him ready, when he pinned me against the wall, eyes glowing red."
"I remember all the words he said afterwards, as his saliva ran down his chin..he spoke of my beauty, how delicious I smelled, and began to rant about how long he had waited to take "it" from me..my blood. He said more, but it was all lost in the haze of my fear and panic. I couldn't fathom that this man that I had developed romantic feelings for was a vampire..but the reality hit me hard when he sank his teeth in my neck."
Amaris shuddered, subconsciously moving his hand to the scarred area where Aether's fangs had pierced his neck.
"He drained me for a while, before pulling away and offering his wrist to me. He told me that we could be together forever and exist eternally if I just let him feed me his blood. And being out of it and very confused, I obliged and nodded in reaction. So he sliced his wrist with his own fangs, before feeding it to me. And I loved it. It was, and still is, the best thing I've ever felt; the only thing coming close being my first blood that I took from a human. I'm sure you know what I'm speaking of.. the pleasure. It was unbearably perfect. It drove me mad with lust."
