HARMONY'S JAW DROPPED, once she and JR got off the elevator of her residence hall and were met by all of her track teammates seated on the couches and chairs. "Finally, she's here." Christie groaned as she rose from her seat. "Now can you tell us why you called us over here in the middle of the night? Some of us were trying to sleep before practice in the morning." She scoffed, noticing that Harmony was dressed up. "But obviously you don't care about that at all, seeing as you would rather party."

Harmony rolled her eyes, before pulling her boyfriend to the side. "Jessie Raymond, what the fuck did you do?"

"They will never respect you until you prove that you care about the team and sport. You have to prove that your coach didn't make a mistake electing you as captain, you have to show that you're serious about leading this team to victory." JR advised, causing Harmony to nod, knowing he was right. "Now get out there," He said, pushing her towards the crowd of girls.

"Hey guys, sorry to call y'all out here so late." Harmony apologized, making the young ladies roll their eyes. She cleared her throat before continuing. "I know some of you may not agree with me being captain, but that's because you don't know me and my story and that's completely my fault. On the first day of practice, I didn't even introduce myself. I don't want us to just be teammates, I want us to be a family, but we can't do that if we don't know each other, so let me start."

"Hey, I'm Harmony Payne. Growing up I played softball because my dad played baseball here. This is also where he met My mom who died when I was younger. When she died instead of dealing with my feelings about it, I started these daily runs, turns out I was really good so I started track." Harmony took a deep breath, trying not to tear up.

"It helped me deal with the loss of my mother and helped me feel closer to her. When I came down here for a college visit I found out that she was the founder of the Bringston track team so I made it my mission to get accepted here so that I could feel more closer to her than I did before. I guess Coach saw my effort after my freshman year and declared me captain. All I wanna do here is make my mom proud, win titles and medals, and build a sisterhood along the way and I hope I can prove to you guys that I would make a great captain and that I care about this team." She concluded. Suddenly scattered claps were heard throughout the dorm hall, making Harmony smile.

Harmony looked over at her boyfriend, who beamed at her proudly. "Harmony," Christie began, "Although I'm not happy with you taking my spot as captain, we both have one thing in common; winning titles and medals. So, I'll cool off you for now." She said.
