HARMONY AND KEISHA sat on Nate's bed, putting together birthday goodie bags for the residents in their halls. "Nate, I cannot thank you enough for letting me crash here these couple days." Simone thanked her friend. "All good." Nate beamed. "No sense in stressing trying to commute back and forth from your aunt Amara's when there's plenty of space here."
"Hello. Could y'all at least pretend not to make undercover arrangements in front of your R.A's?" Keisha joked, while Harmony motioned towards herself, scoffing in the process. "So disrespectful," She spoke, making the group laugh.
"You got a lot going on." Nate directed back at Simone, "Especially since my girl done officially made the tennis squad." She stated, causing Harmony and Keisha to cheer.
Simone sighed, "Yeah, but I don't think everybody's too happy about it." She began. "I thought Thea and I had a nice moment after queen of the court, but now she's back to being mad that I even made the team."
"Girl, duh." Harmony chimed in, "You're her biggest competition. She's just trying to psych you out." She shrugged, attending back to the bags. "Forget her. What she gon' do?" Nate waved off. "Make tennis a living hell." Simone answered. "She's the team captain and all the girls follow her lead. That wields the power." She went on.
"Must be nice. I'm the track team captain and those girls don't give a damn about shit I say." Harmony spoke, "Well, Tennis is different. Thea is different." Simone replied.
"OK, well, if Thea still tripping, I can just throw this gift bag in the trash," Keisha suggested, holing up the goodie bag that had Thea's name written on it. "Or at her head. Whichever works."
Harmony took the bag from her friend's grasp and placed it behind her back, "Let's not do that."
"What?" Keisha shot at Simone, who was confused about why the two were making gift bags in the first place. "We make gift bags for all our residents when their birthdays are coming up." She informed her. "Yeah and Thea's birthday's in a couple of days." Harmony added.
A knock was soon heard on the door, Nate went to open it, only to reveal Wilinda, the most annoying resident in their hall. It had only been two weeks since school officially started and Harmony and Keisha already had a million complaints from her.
"I need to talk to one of you." Wilinda asserted, "She ain't talking to me cause imma cuss that heffa out," Harmony muttered to Keisha, who rose up to tend to Wilinda. "OK." She told her before they both exited the room.
